Guest guest
Is there a heat wave in Kerala, or only on the other side of the southern tip? Would it be due to the Arabian Sea, cooling? but then why not on the Eastern side, where it is also, of course, surrounded by ocean? Indologists? In fact Kerala is the first state to receive showers, from Kerala the monsoon spreads through out India. By the way west coast of India is Gifted with Western Ghats or Mountains as a result you have hill stations like Ooty, kodaikanal, Kandala, Mahabaleshwar. All though east coast does have eastern ghats but they are not that steep, as a result there are no hill stations on eastern coast except one Araku. Regarding Andhra Pradesh, latest report states that 1020 are perished, temperatures reached 50 degree Celsius. This is not new, since last year(2002) more than thousand people were dead in the same state. The ironic thing is during the first quarter of this year more than thousand people died in northern India, predominately in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, guess for what "cold wave". So you have more than 2000 people dying in India in same year for extreme temperatures. Besides this you have thousands dying every year in Orissa due to cyclones and in Assam when river Brahmaputra overflows. Indeed! who ever said India is land of extremes it seems it is true. regards Avinash. Calendar - Free online calendar with sync to Outlook. http://calendar.
