Guest guest
I haven't been feeling well recently. Thus I had not seen Amma at the MA Center for the first 3 days of her public program. I would like to share some questions and answers by Amma that I was able to hear so far in the days I could attend. Amma is using more English which is thrilling! She sang a bhajan to which she had written English words. Everyone clapped every time she sang it. In my opinion, the applause is for her use of English. What a relief for us to be able to speak to Amma directly as those who speak Malayalam can! In two questions, the person addressed Amma in a very obscure way. This first question was asked by a child. Perhaps his/her parents wanted, in the way they talked about death, to affirm the fact that there is no death in fact. The words the child spoke, however, confused Amma and the Swamis for a few minutes. M.A. Center San Ramon, cA Evening Program June 12, 2003 CHILD: Where do we go when we pass spirit? (Neither Amma nor the Swamis could understand the question. They asked the child to ask again. Alas, the child again repeated the same words. After much rumbling and calling out of interpretations, a devotee near the front called out "Where do we go when we die?" Swamiji translated the question.) AMMA: You don't go anywhere. You'll always be here. Whenever an electric light bulb blows out, the electricity doesn't go anywhere. When we die, the light [of consciousness that is the Self] is still here.
