Guest guest
M.A. Center San Ramon, CA Evening Program June 12, 2003 A woman described an elaborate method she had learned to send energy to the earth to heal it. Since healing the earth seemed a good idea to her, she was puzzled by Amma's suggestion that her swamis prevent their energy from going into the earth by sitting on silk or wool when they perform their spiritual practices. She asked Amma to explain. AMMA: The mind has tremendous imaginative power. We can imagine and make anything happen. The earth has a natural force like gravity that draws energy into the earth. It works like a lightning rod does when there is lightning. Whatever energy we gain through spiritual practice can be drawn into the earth. Just as a black cloth can attract the sun's energy, someone wearing black will be more quickly affected by the sun's energy than someone wearing another color. Because the mind is not mastered, we need some precautionary steps so our energy is not drained off. Thus we need a silk cloth or a woolen cloth to sit on when we meditate or perform spiritual practice. Amma does not need to worry about this. Once the mind becomes like a remote control, then you don't have to follow these do's and don'ts. Scripture says the sadhak should take steps to protect his spiritual power. The more we use this power, the more it is dissipated and loses its battery power. Thus we should have something on the floor so the earth does not attract our spiritual energy. In temples, there are idols made of stone, copper or bronze. Certain stones [and metals} are very powerful like a magnet. That's why idols in temples are made of certain kinds of stone and metal. So, even though everything depends on our actions, certain things and people can impact us. They can be either bad influences or good influences. Mind can move in any direction depending on the imagination. Scientists asked people around the world to pray that the Skylab didn't fall on earth [Many people prayed and so}and it fell into the ocean. God is like the ocean. A river can dry up or flood but not the ocean. All negative influences should be offered to God. ********************************* Aikya
