Guest guest
Om Namah Sivaya! hi, i am hoping that someone would kindly share with me the words to Ammas morning prayer(Suprabhatam) and the food prayer(Brahmarpanam). also are there any specific prayers for evening?right now, my sun and i are learning Mothers arati and we do this each nite before bed:) i do have plans to order the video chants and meditation & the mantra mala cassette, until then these prayers would be most helpful in our daily sadhana. one more question in relation to prayers.....to the best of my recollection it is in the morning program of Ammas summer tour ( this year,i can not remember if i heard this last year....which was our first time meeting Mother and everything happening all around was alot to take in:)there is a point just before or after meditation? that Mother by herself whispers (a prayer?) into the microphone. does anyone know what she is saying, the meaning & why she whispers it? i find it simply a beautiful & intimate moment. thanks sooooooo much everyone, in Her grace,we are love. jayashree (AKA noel, my name last time i posted. this summer Mother has graced me and my family with spiritual nmaes:) Om Amriteswaryai Namaha

Guest guest
Jayashree The food prayer is as follows: Brahmaarpanam Brahma Havir Brahmaagnau Brahmanaa Hutam Brahmaiva Tena Gantavyam Brahma Karma Samaadhinaha [This is 24th verse from the 4th chapter of Bhagavad Geetha] The act of offering is Brahman. The offering itself is Brahman. The offering is done by Brahman in the sacred fire which is Brahman. He alone attains Brahman who, in all actions, is fully absorbed in Brahman. (As we chant this prayer we are offering the different types of food to Brahman). Uma. Guest guest
Jayashree, Quite some time ago I found the words and translations to the morning, food, and several other prayers on one of the websites, possibly Ampritapuri.org or UK homepage? It was under the heading; Spiritual Life-Daily Practices, or something along those lines. I did write them down in a journal at the time which is somewhere around here... I'll find it for you if no luck. What I do now is a sort of variation on those prayers, which I'll share here. It's almost exactly the same, but without the Sanskrit prayers. Morning; Amma says first thing when we wake up we should visualize our Guru or beloved diety at the foot of our bed, and prostrate to Her/Him. Then we should ask them to forgive us for any mistakes we may commit during the day. Before stepping on the ground, we should bow to the earth and say, "Please forgive me, Mother Earth, I am about to step on Your back." (I have also read that it is common for sadhus to make offerings of holy water, flowers, etc. to the earth in gratitude for Her selfless service to us). Ablutions; Before stepping into the bath, touch the water reverently and imagine it to be all of the holy waters (Ganges, Lourdes, etc.). When bathing, imagine that you are bathing the Guru/Beloved Diety. Personally, I find my morning bath an excellent time to do japa! I put pictures of Amma on the edge of the tub and imagine that She is washing away my vasanas! Amma recommends that after bathing, the whole family, if possible, should meet at the altar for puja, meditation, japa and bhajans. Food; Mother says that if we have any pets, plants, or others in our care, we should always feed them first. When we are ready to eat, we should first take a little water into our palm and circle it around the food three times. There is a specific prayer that goes with this, but She says you can also chant your own mantra. Before I had a mantra, I used to just chant "Ma, Ma, Ma..." Then sip the water from your palm, and eat! This is a really nice way to express gratitude, by offering the food as prasad. Also, Amma recomends that we eat in silence, sitting down (cross-legged or squatting is very good for the digestion, but not always convienient in our culture), and focused only on the Divine. We should try not to read, watch TV, or chat, in other words. Evening; Bhajans should be sung at dusk, when the atmosphere is full of impure vibrations. Our singing at this hour is meant to uplift the world. Before going to bed, Amma asks us to pray to our Guru/Beloved Diety for forgiveness of any mistakes we may have commited that day in thought, word or action, and to meditate for at least five minutes. Now comes my favorite part! Amma says that when we lay down, to imagine that we are laying our head at Her (Or other Guru/Diety) feet, or in Her lap! When I do this I have very powerful dreams, and sometimes I really feel her energy around me. Hope this helps a bit! May She fill all our hearts with Her love, Brianna --- indigo_femina <indigo_femina wrote: > namaste, > just thought i would repost, if you will, this > letter in hopes that > some devotees out there might have be able to share > these 2 prayers > and answer question at the bottom of letter. > Thanks so much:) > in Mothers grace, we are love. > jayashree > > Ammachi, "indigo_femina" > <indigo_femina@m...> > wrote: > > Om Namah Sivaya! > > hi, > > i am hoping that someone would kindly share with > me the words to > > Ammas morning prayer(Suprabhatam) and the food > prayer(Brahmarpanam). > > also are there any specific prayers for > evening?right now, my sun > and > > i are learning Mothers arati and we do this each > nite before bed:) > > i do have plans to order the video chants and > meditation & the > mantra > > mala cassette, until then these prayers would be > most helpful in > our > > daily sadhana. > > one more question in relation to prayers.....to > the best of my > > recollection it is in the morning program of Ammas > summer tour ( > this > > year,i can not remember if i heard this last > year....which was our > > first time meeting Mother and everything happening > all around was > > alot to take in:)there is a point just before or > after meditation? > > that Mother by herself whispers (a prayer?) into > the microphone. > does > > anyone know what she is saying, the meaning & why > she whispers it? > > i find it simply a beautiful & intimate moment. > > thanks sooooooo much everyone, > > in Her grace,we are love. > > jayashree (AKA noel, my name last time i posted. > this summer Mother > > has graced me and my family with spiritual nmaes:) > > Om Amriteswaryai Namaha > >
