Guest guest
Namaste Everyone, I didn't mean "illiterate" as in reading and writing...I meant it as "illiterate" of knowing what goes on at the Ashrams or even the "cultural" differences etc...I know nothing... . It was just a figure of speach....I need to farmilarize myself more with what goes on etc... I still do not know what sankalpa is... and why are we giving our names to someone if we can't make it for whatever reasons.... what does this accomplish....I am confused on this subject...what can I say I am a slow learner lol.... from what I am getting out of this Amma would like all of her devotes to come to India for her Birthday for some kind of cleansing, and praying for ourselves and the world....is this right.....? And that if we can't make it we give our names to RamaKrishna (I have a genral Idea who this is but if someone would like to confirm this) and then we are blessed in some sort of way for not making it??? is this correct..... ? If I can't make it (I have never been so I can't see myself going now financally or otherwise) what if I pray on these days in my own home.....will that be good enough?? Someone please enlighten me on this subject....Thank you.. At Amma's Feet, Robin
Guest guest
Robin, a sankalpa is the Guru's resolve to make something happen. When a Perfect Master such as Amma makes a sankalpa it always bears fruit. For example sometimes couples who have been told by doctors that they cannot have children come to Amma and ask Her to make a sankalpa so they can have children, and to the amazement of the doctors they do! What Swami Ramakrishnananda, one of Amma's senior Swami's, is saying is that if you cannot make it to India for Amma's B-day celebrations because of work, finances etc.. but you really want to go you can e- mail him your name and he will give it to Amma and She will make a sankalpa that will remove your obstacles and enable you to come to India. If you can't make it to India it is definately enough to pray and medidtate in your house for world peace. Amma is NOT saying She wil be mad if you don't make it. Me and some friends plan on baking a cake for Amma, having a wild puja and singing bhajans all night long to our most beloved Amma. "Though the sun is thousands of miles away, still the lotus blooms. Guest guest
Dear Robin, Don't worry, just pray and be with Mother and your spiritual family (us) from where you are. I'll be at my home praying with you. For the record, I for one don't believe that "disaster" thing was published with consent from Amma, but whoever wants us to worry about a "distster" is creating "disaster" energy by making us worry! Relax and be happy, have good peaceful thoughts because "The world is, as we are!" ~ Hindu proverb. Sankalpa is like a blessing to remove our obstacles to getting to the big-bash, and I think giving our names to the "HareRamaKrishna" dude is so Mother can bless that roll call. If you don't/can't go, you don't have to send your name anywhere, Mother knows your name already. Aum Amriteswaryai Namaha!
