Guest guest
I have recently come to conflict about what to do with household pests like roaches. Should I just get sprays and keep them out, or is there a much better way to handle/deal with them. I am a vegetarian and believe in the principles of non-violence and all, but I don't want roaches blocking me from my bathroom! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
After the Vastu, try putting cayenne pepper powder in cracks and crevices from where the "pests" are pestering. It really works for ants. I've learned to tolerate bugs well, catch & release, let flies fly, just shoe them away, but if you're in the tropics and below sea level, cockroaches can get out of hand if you don't succumb to pesticides, unfortunately, that is my experience. We have exterminator spray once a month in my bldg. Garlic juice is an old-wives thing. A friend I know swears by a sonar-like equipment $$$ that sends out anti-bug vibes. Others I know use caulking to seal every crack they find in their house/apt. S. Florida is a swamp, we have cucarachas, Bigger than you! Clean house and all !! Keep your sugar, flours, pasta, cheerios, granola etc. in the fridge, cans and tightly sealed canisters & non-food in the cupboards only. I speculate that any bagged or boxed stuff the buggs can smell may attract bugs. So many times, pasta or grains get bug infestations down here, chewed right through plastic. When I lived behind a restaurant, every other tennant had mice (sad story it was for the mousies) but I had not a 1 mouse siting with 3 cats in the apt., and those darlings traversed the alleyway like kamakazees just out my window! Check the Real Goods catalog, they're great. Good luck! http://www.realgoods.com/shop/shop2.cfm?dp=209 In a message dated 8/5/03 8:26:39 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Ammachi writes: << Message: 3 Mon, 04 Aug 2003 18:00:25 -0000 "lani12162002" <lani12162002 Household Pests I have recently come to conflict about what to do with household pests like roaches. Guest guest
I had a converstaion with Amma this summer (on 13th July in Chicago). I spoke in English, Amma replied in Malayalam, Geetha acted as the translator. Me : Is it okay to kill household pests ? Amma : What household pests are you talking about ? Me : Mice & then cockroaches. Amma : Are there mice in America ? Geetha said something in reply that I didnot completely understand. I said that my roommates & I had caught more than 10 mice and then released them. I don't know if it was translated. Amma : You can catch the mice in traps and then release them in the fields. And throw a cloth on the cockroaches, grab them that way and then throw them out of the window. There is no need to kill anything. Amma spoke with gestures as She spoke of catching cockroaches. I have a very small number of cockroaches in my apartment, and as Amma gave me this advice, I have been following it. I don't know how helpful this is to you.
