Lordship, doership, independence, being consciousness itself, all these are based on this quality. Iswara and Iswari are the same, and all these descriptions apply to Devi. Jiva is consciousness that is conditioned by mind or ego; Iswara is consciousness conditioned by the universe. This mantra implies that Devi is consciousness as conditioned by the universe.
