Guest guest
All: If you have received an unsolicited PRIVATE email from anyone on the Ammachi List that you found disturbing or attempting to discredit Ammachi, please let me know. Include the senders email address and a copy of the email if you still have it. I have recently become aware that this has happened and I would like to know the extent. ------------------------------- POLICY ENHANCEMENTS: The Welcome letter, that everyone receives upon joining, states: "(E) Only postings related to Ammachi are permitted. This List is not for prompting other Spiritual paths or personal interests". Several incidents have occurred recently that cause me to expand and make more explicit the guidelines of the Ammachi List. The purpose of the Ammachi List is for your Spiritual Growth in relationship with Ammachi. The following is prohibited in all postings directly to the Ammachi List and unsolicited email sent PRIVATELY to any member of the Ammachi List: 1. Any topics not related to the purpose of this List or that have nothing to do with Ammachi; 2. Attempts to discredit Ammachi, people in Her service, Her organizations and Her followers; 3. Advertisements including those that promote other web sites or Spiritual Paths; 4. Prompting ones own personal interests and/or web sites; 5. Discussions on alleged misconduct of Gurus, their organizations and followers. 6. Disruptive and/or abusive behavior. This includes using words that may be construed as disruptive or abusive. 7. Making posts on behalf of someone who is not a member of the Ammachi List; 8. Anything to do with so-called "Adult" sexual matters, especially advertising porno web sites. You may disagree with someone's views. However, honor their viewpoint. You may well present your own ideas but criticizing or chastising someone else is prohibited. The moderator of this List, as with all moderators of Lists, may remove any member whose conduct is deemed inappropriate to the purpose of the List. -------------------------------- If you feel that anyone has infringed on any of the above, please email me PRIVATELY. Unfortunately, I do not always read all the posts on the List and your input is most valuable. Did I miss something that you consider important? Please let me know! I will consider all suggestions for improving our enjoyment here on the Ammachi List and in Amma's Love. Om Amriteshwariyai Namaha! Guest guest
Namah shivaya I did not read the mail that was attempting to discredit Amma either- i have come across many people saying all sorts of things- when i ask 'have you met Amma?' - they almost always say 'no". ... once someone asked 'Does Amma quote the scriptures? she doesnt preach vedanta-she only hugs people'. to which i reply "Can you hug a leper? and lick his wounds? and cure him? that is vedanta . Can those among you who 'quote scriptures' do this? " bala KandarW wrote: All: If you have received an unsolicited PRIVATE email from anyone on the Ammachi List that you found disturbing or attempting to discredit Ammachi, please let me know. Can those among you who 'quote scriptures' do this? " Well said, Bala-ji. It would be good to point out that, in addition to being a living embodiment of vedanta, Amma does quote the scriptures, and she does preach vedanta. These people should read some of Amma's teachings in "Awaken Children" and other similar works; they compare quite favorably with anything written elsewhere whether by pundits or saints. And she didn't learn it in schoolrooms. Pranams, Ramlal -- Aum Amriteshvaryai Namah!
Guest guest
Kandar and others, I am glad that I got a chance to express my views on this list before restrictions such as 'no criticism of Ammachi' were in place! Now I guess I have to air criticisms to the divine mother more directly. Guest guest
Vallath-ji, I cannot find words such as "no criticism of Ammachi" in the policy, the closest is "attempts to discredit Ammachi". While I don't advocate doing either one of them with regard to Amma, there is some difference in meaning. From infoplease.com: Criticize: 1. to censure or find fault with. 2. to judge or discuss the merits and faults of: to criticize three novels in one review. Discredit: 1. to injure the credit or reputation of; defame: an effort to discredit honest politicians. 2. to show to be undeserving of trust or belief; destroy confidence in: Later research discredited earlier theories. 3. to give no credence to; disbelieve: There was good reason to discredit the witness. Guest guest
Dear Vallath, I would certainly be disappointed if you failed to give us the benefit of your oh-so-honest thoughts! I don't really think of them as "criticisms." We don't hear enough from you! I don't really think of them as "criticisms." We > don't hear enough from you! I agree! Each journey to Self has high points and low points. In some ways this list is at least in part like an open journal where we record the events of our journey, the doubt filled days, the faith filled days. I count on all of you to respect my records as I respect yours. The last thing I would do is question your record of your journey. And I hope you won't do that to me!
