Kalam, Mohanlal, Jackie to address youth at

Amritavarsham

 

KOCHI: President A P J Abdul Kalam will address the

youth on the third day of Amritavarsham, on September

26, at Kaloor International Stadium. Mata

Amritanandamayi will also give a speech to the youth

focusing on the need for a spiritual revolution.

 

Among the international speakers on the day are

Wamgari Maathai, Deputy Minister, Ministry of

Environment, Natural Resources and Wild Life, Kenya,

Hanne Strong, spiritual leader and environmentalist

and Senator M Datuk Kayveas, Malaysian minister.

 

Bawa Jain, assistant to Kofi Annan, Mukesh Ambani,

chairman of Reliance, Shrikant Jichkar, scholar and

former Maharashtra minister, cine actors Mammootty,

Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff will also speak.

Security tightened as VIPs to visit Kerala

 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high-level meeting convened by

Chief Secretary N.Chandrasekharan Nair here on Friday

decided to tighten security in the State in view of

the proposed visit by President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam,

Deputy Prime Minister L.K.Advani and Vice-President

Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

 

The meeting discussed security arrangements to be made

in view of their State visit to participate in the

50th birth anniversary celebrations of Mata

Amrithananda Mayi at Kochi from September 24 to 27.

 

The meeting was attended by DGP Hormis Tharakan, Home

Secretary N.Ramakrishnan and other senior police

officials.
