Guest guest
Hi All, Since I can't go to the birthday celebration I thought I'd try to put something on the board that people might enjoy. Here are notes I took during one of Swami Amritaswarupananda's talks in the Los Angeles retreat. He said: Truth is always hard to take. The most important message of Amma is detachment or non-attachment. Only one who is truly detached can really love us, have compassion, etc. As we travel with Mother (this is from our standpoint only), we see this. Detachment is one of the most difficult spiritual qualities to acquire. We humans want to be attached. Amma says it's an addiction, but we don't recognize it. We should say, "Nothing belongs to me. Everything belongs to God." Enjoy things of the world by renouncing them. (Do not covet other people's wealth. If it's not mine, it's not yours either.) Prakriti is all that is ingrained in one's personality. Hoarding (accumulation) is common to everyone. The more body conscious one is, the more attachment and fear creep in. Some animals are better hoarders than humans. Swami thinks Amma was not giving us the message of detachment. Now Amma is slowly imparting that knowledge. He told a story about Krishna being Arjuna's driver in the Bhagavad Gita, and said that Arjuna forgot that Krishna was really in charge. He said we should remember who the "real driver" is. We are passengers in this great journey of life. Our tasks in life are important, but say goodbye willingly. Tears are okay, but drop it then and there. One journey ends and another begins. It's like a page in a book. Go on to the next one with a smile. This attitude is not possible if we see only the body. Amma's life is a constant example of detachment. Detachment happens when we penetrate the surface. He feels Amma has waited 16 years. Now it is time to discipline. You must know what real spirituality is. Amma's taking it to another level. So be prepared.... Let Amma hold OUR hand, not us Hers. To be continued...
Guest guest
Thank you for sharing Mother's powerful message with us. I heard second-hand of a conversation between Mother and Her principal photographer earlier this year in India, and even though the photographer's end of the conversation was very light, seeking reassurance from Mother about Her time amongst us, Mother's final answer was chillingly serious, when She stated: Mother will do whatever is necessary for the spiritual growth of Her children. May She bless us by feeding our sincere hunger for the Truth, and by supporting us with the strength and perseverance necessary to partake of it!
