The Jala Mahasangamam (convergence of waters) will celebrate humanities varied richness and diversity. Flags and water from all countries and the seven sacred rivers of India will be honoured at this unique programme. The procession will feature Mata Amritanandamayi’s devotees from all over the world wearing the traditional attire of their respective cultures. The parade will begin 2 km away from the international stadium and a single vessel containing water from the seven sacred rivers of India and all the countries throughout the world will be offered to Mata Amritanandamayi, who will bless the water and present it to the President A P J Abdul Kalam. The President will water a banyan sapling. Upon the ceremony’s conclusion, water from individual nations will be mixed and distributed to representatives from each nation to take back to their native lands. With flags representing each country, water representing the life of each country and the oil lamp representing the wisdom and love of each country, this unique ritual will offer an inspiring view of the world’s unity and richness. >From www.newindpress.com Keval (IMHO, it's rather hokey that the devotee representing Canada will be dressed as a Mountie!)
