Guest guest Posted September 15, 2003 Report Share Posted September 15, 2003 Amritakripa Neethi Prathistan to be opened on Sep 27 PTI[ TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2003 12:07:24 AM ] KOCHI: A unique initiative to bring together 1008 lawyers across the country to provide free legal assistance to India's poor and needy is being launched by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. The aim of the initiative, to be inaugurated on September 27 in the presence of Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat is to provide direct legal aid and also make efforts to infuse value-based principles into the justice delivery system. It would also help in creating awarenss among the people of their rights and obligations by providing legal literacy of the basic laws, the math said in a press release here. Termed 'Amritakripa Neeti Prathistan', the advocates' forum will provide dispute resolution mechanisms of mediation and conciliation of disputes. It would support the cause of those who suffer from human rights issues, environmental aggressions and tribal law aggressions and violations. The forum also proposes to provide legal assistance to the physically challenged, mentally disabled and others who are less privileged in any manner. The initiative is being organised as part of the four-day 50th birthday celebrations of the Mata Amrtanandamayi -- 'Amritavarsham 50'. President A P J Abdul Kalam will be presiding over a CEO meet here on Sept 26 and later in the day address a youth meet.
