Guest guest
A beautiful piece from Amma.org: bala Master of the Dance It is human nature to question what we cannot see, and to fear what we don’t understand. Because of this many of us, or at least me sometimes question our faith in God, or the presence of God in our lives. For someone to have full faith in something which they cannot even comprehend is sometimes quite difficult. But once we truly surrender to God we will realize that God is always with us. Man is never without God. About three years ago I stayed in Amma’s ashram in Kerala with my mom and my two sisters. We first arrived in Amma’s ashram in the middle of December and planned to stay through February. Right when we arrived all of the people in the ashram were preparing for the holiday festivities. My two younger sisters quickly joined with other children staying in the ashram, and with the help of their parents put together a dance to perform for Amma on New Year’s Eve. All of the children practiced regularly, but as things tend to go with younger children, they weren’t exactly setting the standard in productivity. Although the advantage to this was that they were young and cute, so they could pull just about anything off. Then before we knew it, it was New Year’s Eve, and time for the children and everyone else to put on their performances for Amma. The program hall was filled, the performers were dressed, but Amma was late coming down to the hall. Eventually word was sent down through one of Amma’s assistants that Amma would be down shortly, and to just go ahead with the programme. The children began their dance oblivious, as children of their age usually are. However, many of the parents were upset that the dance that they had taught the children wouldn’t even be seen by Amma. But it is my experience around Amma that Amma always out does everyone’s expectations, and more importantly her ways can never be predicted. After about thirty seconds into the dance the children started loosing it. They were up on stage in front of a thousand people and running around. Suddenly my sister and one other girl bumped into each other, and my sister fell to the ground. And who was there to pick her up… none other than Amma. Amma had slipped onto the back of the stage with out anyone noticing and as soon as she saw what was going on quickly came to the children’s aid. Amma lifted my sister off the ground holding her up while she instructed all of the other children on how to carry out the dance. All of the parents were amazed and just stared at Amma in awe. Amma had not only come to see the dance, but was also dancing with the children on stage. This is the greatness of a true master like Amma. Through a simple act of dancing Amma revealed her presence in our lives to everyone there that night. Though it may not always seem she is near. I am reminded of one of my favorite stories in which a man goes through life and sees the footsteps of God by his side. However, eventually the man gets into trying times and the footsteps disappeared. The footsteps reappeared once the man reached better times. Seeing this, the man cried out to God saying "All throughout my life your footprints were by my side, but when I truly needed you there was only one set of footprints. How could you desert me?" God replied "It was then I carried you my son." We must realize the lesson of this story in our lives. We must never fear fore Amma is with us. Amma may not come when we call, but she is always on time. The New with improved product search
