Kandar,

It is really too bad that Mark has been kicked out of the list. Why don't

you post

a message saying what it was that he had done that was so obnoxious? I

really

enjoyed his posts; they provided a change from the usual devotional stuff,

from

critical (does not mean only negatively critical) masculine mind. Not that

I don't like the devotional stuff,

but you cannot eat just sweets all the time.

I agree.

markasme should not have been banned from the list.

If we can't stand being questioned, perhaps we need to re-evaluate our

positions.

Thank you, Girish, for your sensible perspective. Some weeks ago I

posted some views of what I see goes on around Amma, in the

organization of western devotees, and the response it evoked was

sarcasm, condescension and, above all, defensiveness. What was I

expecting? This seems not to be a forum where one is free to express

views that diverge from the PC views of devotees without getting

skewered for them. This is the mind set of a cult. One devotee gently

advised me to follow my heart, and I thank her for her kindness. Here

is a reminder: Amma is not preaching a religion. I am very turned off

by the Hindu religious aspect of what I see at programs which

conflicts with my own practice. I'm sorry if some devotees get bent

out of shape about that. Amma personally gave me Her blessing to

pursue the path I am on. When I felt badly about not being able to do

the arcana at Amritapuri some years ago,She also told me that She

would not want me (or any of us) to do any practice that did not come

from our hearts. Am I a devotee? I don't know. I visit this site

because I like to read inspirational stories of Amma. She has told

devotees that they need to grow up. Becoming tolerant and respectful

of others is a step towards spiritual maturity. Blessings to all.

I disagree - if you remove Krishna and Devi from the environment which surrounds

Amma, what do you have left ? Krishna and Devi are very much a part of the

"Hindu" religion or Sanathana Dharma and no amount of syntactic wrangling

is going to change that.

To my understanding, Amma is not preaching that Hinduism is the only way, or

Christianity is the only way. She guides each person based on what is his/her

inclination. This _does not_ mean "no religion".

First of all, I want to preface this comment with the fact that I

don't always read all the emails from this group or read them

carefully, so I may have missed this announcement and the

explanation of Mark being "kicked out".

What I did want to comment on is the possibility that someone

has seen that his name is missing from the list, and assumes

that he's been kicked out. Remember that a lot of devotees

are in India right now, and may have d, because

they don't want a ton of email in their box when they get home,

and will re- when they return.

There is also the possibility that Mark chose to drop out. I don't

know the details of this, so I just wanted to offer those

possibilities before we jump to conclusions and get upset. I

suspect the moderator may also be in India right now and may

not be avaiable for immediate comment. So perhaps we can

all exercise some patience with this until the facts are offered.

Meanwhile, I am happy that it's Amma's birthday. :)

Blessings,

Achintya
