Guest guest
Namah Shivaya Dear Brother Bala, count me in too, and thanks for your idea. While in Cochin, after the Birthday program, we visited AIMS. We happened to visit on a national holiday commerating Ghandiji's birthday. Thus the hospital was less busy than usual. A very kind lady named Siddhama, (or Siddama or something similiar, as I only know how she pronounced her name and not how to spell it), graciously gave us a small tour of the hospital. Siddama is about 60 yrs. old, or older, and moves about like a 35 yr. old. She said that Amma sent her to do volunteer work at AIMS, and she is very happy doing it. I think she said that her son lives in the San Ramon ashram, if I understood her correctly. Six days a week she works as a volunteer at the reception desk from 9AM until 8PM. The reception desk is a very busy place. The hospital is beautiful; an oasis in the busy city of Cochin. We visited the wards where those who cannot pay anything stay, and also the standard rooms, and the private, delux rooms for those who can afford them. Siddama told us that the DAILY COST for giving treatment to those cannot afford to pay for it ( or cannot afford to pay for all of it) is 600,000 to 700,000 Rupees. That is 600,000 to 700,000 Rupees a day! What Amma has done and accomplished since 1993 is mind boggling, to put it mildly. Amma has a vision of a new India, and a transformed and better world. I am glad if there is any small thing that I can contribute to help materialize Her vision. I am trying to smile more; especially after my experience walking in the Procession during the Birthday celebration. Thank you again Bala.It is nice to give Amma a birthday present from our group, and it is nice that you would present it to Her from all of us.
