Guest guest
If you're not unfortunate enough to have seen the Jack T. Chick series of bible-thumping fire and brimstone pamphlets, you might find one left on a bus, in a phone booth, or in some public place where one might pick it up and read it. Or you can view them all at http://www.chick.com They're quite simplistic comic-book stories, preaching my way (i.e. Jesus) or the highway (to hell). This one totally offended my sensibilities: http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0070/0070_01.asp Is there a Hindu version of the Anti-defamation league that such blatant hate propaganda can be reported to? Guest guest
Someone has the nerve to drop these chick things off at my synagogue where I work, at the school no less, showing Jewish people being lead by their rabbis to H-E-L-L. It was mentioned on this list the material depravation of the world, but the spiritual depravation of the whole world is what astounds me the most. I don't even believe collecting money and erecting houses alone can cure our ills -- that's just a band aid Without spiritual transformation, until people change inside, the outside is like a symptom of the real sickness. Having said that I'm with the house plan and really like this e-group becoming a real cyber-satsang entity. Jai Ma! Guest guest
Dianadevi-ji, I agree that this is a band-aid solution but still a worthwile effort for the utterly downtrodden. As a grad student who came to study here a few years ago, the first thing that I noticed(and all my friends too) were that Americans are very honest- I know many would find this hard to believe but I see this everyday; truly what makes America a great nation. I was reading one of Napolean Hill's(certainly no friend of India), the founder of the science of success in the West, books where he describes his encounter with an ethereal being from the Himalayas who belonged to ancient tradition called school of masters( translated as siddha-ashram supposedly where all the great sages reside).. apparently he was subtly guided by this Himalayan master in formulating his philospophy which makes me wonder sometimes did God decree that the west would be prosperous and india would be a poor country?? BTW keval i found that chick version of kali story so humorous; certainly was well researched, the priest and the temple all looked kinda genuine. i seriously cannot believe that people read and are influenced by such trash :-) yogaman > most.
