Guest guest
Namah Shivaya. Awhile back Dixie asked us for an idea for a service project for students she's workng with. Realize I could write her off list with this, but choose to post cuz I found it so inspiring. I met a parent recently who had helped his child do this with a group of kids: They went out to a prairie and collected seeds that would be used to help restore prairies. Don't know if that is a good project for where you are. But you might want to do something along the lines of what Amma's Green Friends are doing. It could be plant a tree, or start little seedling trees and have a planting party, etc. Just an idea. Guest guest
- Kenna Ammachi Sunday, October 19, 2003 12:34 PM Dixie's search for project for students Holy Smoley!!! I did NOT mean my request as a solicitation - or, more correctly, I didn't even think about the request being anything but a means of helping children serve...and under my breath, it would always have been in Mother's name. Will certainly watch my step from now on; apologies to all. Chastened, but glad to have another chance, Dixie Namah Shivaya. Oh, my goodness. So sorry that last message caused you to feel chastened. Didn't mean it that way at all. Didn't read your message as a solicitation. Only an intriguing invitation for some input from our list group. Was sent with childlike enthusiasm. May this message restore calm and self-confidence. Guest guest
Premarupa, thank you for posting about this, for some reason I'm not getting the digest and I'm missing alot. That was a great suggestion, collecting seeds. When is Bala going to collect my $40? Oh Gabriela, looks like you may have to help Bala.. and i do believe Laksmi devi dasi may be slightly responsible! I have a paypal account. Dixie, do you have a project yet? I have suggestions for you from my Temple's youth group & other mitzvah projects. Every month we do a new community project. Now we are collecting and redistributing warm weather items for those who need for the winter. contact me with your age of kids and other requirements if you like. One interesting project was for families to volunteer together at a public libraray refurbishing older books, and labeling, organizing and shelving books. The kids were so uninthusiastic about it at first, but when they were put to work with good direction and clear instruction from the organizer, they enjoyed their work. You could see them stopping to gander inside the books here & there too, or take a break and read. Give and you shall receive. Projects can be really fun too. Jai Ma! Guest guest
Oh Well... Even though I was instrumental in giving the idea of us pooling money for a house for the poor as a b'day gift for Amma, I am a bit reluctant to be the person to actually collect the money from you all and give it to M.A center . Because if there's a mistake somewhere, -lets say a check comes in late from someone and i forget to include that or something like that, then I will feel quite bad about not handling your money properly maybe we can all just send the money to M.A center... bala Amarthya <Dianadevi wrote: Premarupa, thank you for posting about this, for some reason I'm not getting the digest and I'm missing alot.
