Another devotee and I wish to begin a local satsang group. We both sent requests to MA Center more than a month ago with no reply (they're busy folks - we'll keep asking). It would be nice if someone can ask Mother for us if She'd ok the venture, so that we can have some kind of legitimacy. A friend of mine recently gave me an article she clipped from The Miami Herald 9/26 edition, right in the front of the paper, the "People" section. It's titled "Guru's Hugs Inspire Many to Embrace Spiritual Lives" and below the title a photo of Amma with her arms wide, head back, it looks like she's embracing the universe. The caption reads "Birthday Festival: Spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi sings Thursday in Cochin, India." Then follows the rest of the Associates Press report of Amritavarsham which begins "A woman of humble birth becomes the 'Mother of Absolute Bliss for devotees'" (you may have read it, or it may have been posted on the list already since it's from the wire). And then a small map of India appears with the article and locates Cochin for the reader. Mother is ensconced on the "People" page 4A by Nicole Kidman, Julio Iglesias Jr. David Beckham, Anthony Hopkins & Jodie Foster, Lenny Kravitts, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Isabella Rosselini and Denzel Washington and related news and gossip. Incredible! You'd think the Herald editors would bury this article in the "Religion" section on page 20D! I will try to scan it an upload it to the files section.
