Guest guest
Namaste All, I hate to ask a favor, but would someone be willing to videotape the Nova special on string theory for me? I'll be more than glad to send a check to cover postage and the price of the casette. I also need an address for Bala so I can send a contribution towards "our" house (I love that!). Wish we were all closer; I'd love to meet everyone and be able to sit down and talk. At Amma's feet, Dixie

It seems that the date mentioned was October 25. I live out beyond the boonies and we have direct tv but not PBS; string theory has been a fascintation for some time and I am really hoping to find a way around my lack of access! Guest guest
- Michele Worstell Ammachi Monday, October 20, 2003 8:37 PM Re: String theory Namaste, Michele and others, Oh, my: to explain string theory! Please, stronger brains out there, add input as you can (this included corrections to my interpretation as well!). Michele, this goes back to a posting from another group member and is apparently of interest to several of us. It is my understanding - and I do truly use that loosely - that, among other things, string theory is a current hot topic among physicists and may ultimately prove (or has proven?) that time is not linear as the laws of physics have heretofore stated and that our universe may be one of many interconnected/parallel universes that we cannot "see." There is much, much more to the theory that I could not begin to put into words because I don't have the depth of understanding to do so- anyone else, please help out! My interest in this piqued several years ago when I first heard of Babaji - centuries old and still alive. While faith should be enough to allow us (me) to have total belief in this, as in a yogi's ability to "appear" miles away from where his body is, I have had the awful misfortune of getting caught in spots where I felt I "had" to defend my beliefs (that blasted ego issue) and string theory seems as though it will give a scientific support to my beliefs - I suspect it will ultimately "prove" that the Creator and the creation are one. Along the same lines, I am equally curious about fractal geometry for similar reasons. As a side line to this, I'd like to share a segnet from Amma, healing the heart of the world with you, Michele. At some point in 1987, Amma met with 30 scientists from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and explained to the scientists back then that time was not linear. THe quote from one of the scientists, a PhD in Physics and a degree in medical science, responded "At the time,we scientists could not follow what Amma was trying to tell us....According to our understanding of Amma, she was referring to time mot in terms of minutes, months, or seasons. She was saying that time has to be understood in terms of the circle of life and death. It's a circle, or a cycle." The scientist also asked Amma how many dimensions there are and she responded that there are nine. At the time, science believed there were 3 dimension of space: length, breadth, and width - and a 4th dimension, space/time. The fun has come since then: my October 27 issue of US News & World Report is touting the Nova special and says that scientists are now proposing that there are, nin fact, 11 dimensions. My bets are on Mother. Well, before this becomes a book, I'll close for now and let the more scientifically inclined add thoughts/comments. My interest has been, and remains, for my own erudition and, I am not proud to admit, the outside chance that this will eventually "prove" to some of my nearest and dearest that I have not, in fact, lost my mind by believing as I do.
