Re: Owl

There is a huge owl - probably a barn owl that I have seen perched at the top

of the temple-barn at MA Center during Devi Bhava the last few years,

November and June. I am trying to remember what someone told me about it. this

bird

is absolutely huge and very magnificent. It has an energy.

I had an experience with a crow in Cochin at Amritavarsham 50. A crow had

flown into a fan in one of the halls, and I was asked by a swami to carry it to

the medical center where it could be cared for. I had been watching the crows

a lot at Amritapuri, and just laughing at their antics, trying to talk to

them, and so forth - just playing around. But I think they are really wonderful

birds, and so I couldn't believe it when I was handed a crow to care for! It

was very beautiful - the top of its head had a thick crown of black velvet. I

asked someone to bring me a cloth and covered the crow's head with it, and we

walked through the immense crowd in perfect peace and harmony. I chanted Om

Namah Shivaya to the crow the whole way. When we got to the medical clinic,

the doctor there gazed at the crow with such an expression of devotion,

amusement, and kindness, that I thought he must feel he was gazing at Devi

herself!

He medicated the crow, and said it would take three weeks for it to fly again,

and he would take it home til it recovered.

Swami Paramatmananda said that Amma said anything out of the ordinary to do

with crows is meaningful - I'd like to hear from anyone who sees any

significance in this incident. It felt very powerful to me, but I wonder how to

interpret any deeper meaning in it - Thanks!

Love to All, Kasturi
