Namah Shivaya.

The owl is prominent in greek mythology, shown with Minerva, the goddesss of

wisdom.

Big statue in Chicago train station is good example.

Minerva is Roman, not Greek! You're thinking of Athena.

Note that Greek wisdom goddess Athena is shown with the owl, and Greek

love goddess Aphrodite is shown with the swan. In India, the wisdom

goddess Saraswati has the swan, and the love goddess Lakshmi has the owl.
