Guest guest
Okay folks, it's ON! We send what we can to Amarthya, she collects it all into a single package for Bala who then takes it personally to the MA Center where they will be waiting for it. I know we can do it - we've got enough people reading and plenty of prayers and support. If you can send $5, $10, $50 or more, please let Amarthya know! If you can't send it now, make a pledge to send it in a few weeks if that's easier. We don't have a time-limit, but let's not lose momentum. Brothers and Sisters: By AMMA'S GRACE we CAN do this! Picture this: Right now, AT THIS MOMENT, there is a person, a family, a child, walking around in India with no place to live. By this time next year, WE CAN PUT THEM IN THEIR OWN HOME!!! They're out there as I write this, as you're reading it, and they don't even know that the clouds have parted and a ray of sunshine is beginning to peak out at them.... AMMA'S that sunshine, and WE'RE parting the clouds! Jai our house for Amma's children! Jai Ma! Gabriela --- balakrishnan Shankar <balakrishnan_sh wrote: > PERFECT !! Guest guest
Namah Shivaya. Love your enthusiasm, Gabriela! Did anyone on this list who was at the ashram participate in the house building project? If so, would you be willing to give up a report? I wanted to go, but couldn't because of the ecoli. I keep imagining what it would be like for some of us to go another step and go over together and help build some houses. (Stranger things have happened.) All by Amma's grace. p. > Picture this: Right now, AT THIS MOMENT, there is a > person, a family, a child, walking around in India > with no place to live. Guest guest
- Kenna Ammachi Friday, October 24, 2003 10:46 PM Re: By Amma's Grace, we're buying a house!!! Namaste, It would indeed have to be by Amma's grace, but I once again slipped - as soon as our house raising came, up, I thought how wonderful it would be to be able to build it ourselves and dismissed the idea just as quickly knowing it would take quite a miracle for some of us to go to India anytime soon. As you say, though, stranger things have happened: we met a living avatar, didn't we? (-: For those of you who responded with ideas for my kids, thank you so much for taking the time to do so. I am always amazed, and humbled, by the kindeness I find here. I met my group for the first time last week and they're delightful: four shy sixth graders, four social, social, social seventh graders, and one "I'm the big dog but I don't bite" eight grader! I turned the question loose with them -rather like blowing dandelion flluff into the wind for a while!- and they ended up adopting their own idea as the primary project. They're going to have (not try, do) the reduced speed limit on the road that passes our school extended and reinforced by 2 yellow caution lights...they want to invite the Governor Wise to a meeting if all else fails (I kept reminding myself silently that I'm helping to build a house in India so 11-13 year olds can obviously change traffic laws!!!). Other projects include cold weather clothing for indigent grade schoolers, a canned food drive, giving the custodians a day off and doing the cleaning ourselves (!), seed collections (thank you!) and flower planting this spring. And they plan to con (oops, persuade) the principal into letting us have a school mascot and buying him/her a red hawk costume. This, of course, was just what they pledged at the first meeting,,,they promised they'd come back with "more stuff" we can do next time. At Amma's feet, Snehalata Namah Shivaya. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya. knowing it would > take quite a miracle for some of us to go to India anytime soon. Donating for a house could certainly be considered one step, don't you think? Your account of your first meeting with the kids was so well done it made me feel like I was there, sitting between a shy sixth grader and the big 8th grader. I'll bet those shy kids won't be so shy when these projects are over. How utterly delightful! Do keep us posted as to developments. How could Gov. Wise not respond to their enthusiastic and well-placed idea! I think you should document this with video if possible. It could get other kids going other places. I'll bet Amma is smiling and blessings it. In Her grace, p.
