Guest guest
Namaste, Just watched the first two parts of Elegant Universe, the show about string theory. WOW! I think I saw God tonight! I'm being a bit silly, but I got goosebumps when the narrator said, "everything in the universe, all matter and all forces, are made up of the same thing: tiny particles called 'strings' that vibrate" and later, "so the only difference between you and me is the variation in the vibration of the strings". Going back to the vedas again: God is pure sound (sound is vibration), and there is no difference between us and anyone/anything else since it's all God. The more they talked about how this could be the "holy grail" of physics in the form of a unification theory (a theory to unify all the "problems" when studying the different forces of nature), the more it sounded like unification meant seeing God. Later some scientists explained that a "problem" with this theory is that the particles, or strings, are so unimaginably tiny that we will never be able to observe or test the theory, so it's "safe" from being disproved. I thought to myself, "we're not meant to see or prove God". Who knows... Obviously, I'm no scientist, never even took a college science course. However, I HAVE read a LOT of science fiction! I have always wondered about this. Soooo, maybe we can see and test this theory. This is most amazing. In Loves Service malati
Guest guest
- MSoliz Ammachi Tuesday, October 28, 2003 10:18 PM Amma's Elegant Universe Om Shivaya Namaha, Gabriel, thank you for posting this. As I said earlier, I can't get the PBS series here because we live too far out for cable and our dish co. keeps saying that local channels will be available soon -but not now. Having been married to a physicist for a quarter of a century (but not now), I became fascinated with the theory when he did -not because of the science per se but because I felt it would come as close to touching God as science can. It's been odd that I found this theory, and the unified field theory, so clear and straight forward from the beginning since I am, sometimes, so scientifically challenged that I suspect that there really are tiny people acting out the shows I see on my tv screen.... Anyway, please post info from the next segment as well, off line if you want. Thanks again from the hills of WV, and always with love for Amma and all, Snehalata PS I think the lack of PBS out here expalins the "Almost Heaven" part of John Denver's song! Guest guest
Namaste, You have put into words what I could not. I looked at the world differently this morning. I felt closer to everything. Im so excited about this. I felt exactly the same way as you when watching the Elegant Universe! I was so amazed. Im going to borrow the book from the library as soon as it becomes available. The only thing I can not grasp is Dimensions, Why is it nessessary to have them with string theory? I can not and haven't been able to grasp dimensions... why are they nessessary etc.... Even when I was younger... Maybe someone could enlighten me a bit? Guest guest
It is so inspiring when our spirituality is affirmed by some of the greatest minds in science. It is all ONE! Jai Ma!
