Mantra story from London

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We went to London to see Amma, and just returned home to Iceland

last night. We stayed in London a few extra nights to rest after

being up with Amma in the nights of the program.

One tour staff member told me that many thousands of new people

have come to see Amma on Her tour in Europe. I greatly admire the

tour staff as they are beyond tiredness and still giving and helping

and doing their best.

Amma's tour of Europe began shortly after AV 50, and so it is easy

to understand how those travelling with Amma from India must be more

exhausted than usual. I actually do not understand how it is

possible to keep the schedule they keep...and it is humanly not

possible, and only Amma's Shakti keeps them going.

Amma's magic is wonderful. In a hall that was suppose to hold only

700 people there were more than 4500 for Devi Bhava...it was chaos

and magic at the same time. The Brentwood complex center security

guards let it all go on out of the respect they had gained for Amma

during the previous 2 days of the program,( most of them got darshan

on the first day), and I saw one security guard even taking part in

the puja ceremony while he was doing his security duty at the door

on the upper balcony level where I was.

Mantra story:

At programs I stand out a bit in the crowd because of my

disabilities; I am on crutches and do not sit down, so it often

happens that other disabled people come up to speak to me. One

middle aged lady in a wheel chair had been speaking to me in London,

during the program.

In London, a man with a long hair and a beard, clad in a

single wrapper with his posssessions by his side tied in a big

cloth, has often come to Amma's program. He usually sits in the back

or on the side by the wall , and I have never seen this man go up

for darshan. In years past I have seen Amma walk to this man on

Her way out of the hall and give him darshan.

During Devi Bhava I came into the hall to lean up against the wall

and look at Amma. The lady in the wheel chair, Linda (not her real

name) was there in the disabled line, waiting for darshan and

confused about whethter or not to get a mantra. It turned out the

long haired man in the wrapper had been talking to her a lot during

the program, and had advised her not to get a mantra, because she

already had her path and it's line of gurus. Linda was upset

because this man had been asked to leave the program by one of the

Swamis. I said that this man was not correct to adivise her not to

get a mantra. She should decide that inside herself, or ask Amma

about it.

I asked one of the Swamis to please expalain the situation to

Linda, and clarify things.

He said that this man had been saying negative things about Amma,

and the program, to people in the hall, and would not stop, and was

finally asked to leave.

Still Linda had to decide whether to get a mantra or not, and was

very, very confused. She did not want to be unfaithful to her path

( I think it is a Sikh path, but I am not sure, as I did not

recognize the name of her present guru -leader).

Finally Linda was called to go for darshan.

After Linda came down from the stage, I asked her how things went.

She was thrilled beyond words. She asked Amma for a Mantra, and the

Mantra Amma gave her was the same mantra she has been using with

only some very minor changes. All of Linda's confusion was gone,

and she was so very happy that she had asked Amma for a mantra. She

found that she could follow the path she was on, using a mantra

given by Amma.

Also attending the London program were devotees from Dubai who could

not go for AV 50 because of their jobs, and people ( Jains by

religion) who had just met Amma for the first time in Kenya, and

had come to London to see Her.

Late during the evening program on the second day, the Irish

delegation ( including Mary Noon, known for chopping a lot of

vegies on tour, and Paul, who is most often in the kitchen cooking)

formally invited Amma to come to Ireland. Amma told them to prepare

for Her coming to Ireland in 2004. Jai Amma!

I will try to write more news from the London program later.

My thankful respects to all of you in our List family,

In Amma's Love,

Sara
