Guest guest
I think "meditation" must mean different things to different people. Again, in the Manasa Puja described in the little purple Archana Book, we're told by Amma to "imagine" and "visualize" things, both which engage the mind until it becomes natural. Also, in Eternal Wisdom, Part 2, Amma says to a Bramacharin, "The mantra should be chanted with great attention. You can also visualize the form of your Beloved Deity while chanting. Concentration won't come easily in the beginning..." I guess what I'm saying is similar to what I said about "efforting", concentration, using my mind, etc., are necessary for me at this stage. It's my spiritual "practice", so that's what I'm doing: practicing until it becomes "effortless", heart-centered, etc. At this very early stage (not just today, but this lifetime, I feel), I need tools to focus my mind: guided meditation, ritualistic worship (puja), religion, effort and mind. I believe my mind mostly masters me right now. I need to master my mind before I can release myself from it. I need to go "through" these blockades, not around them or down another road. Otherwise they might pop up again! Someday, if by God's grace I've mastered all of that, I can let go of my mind and perhaps I'll be closer to the Goal. Does anyone else feel this way?
