Guest guest Posted November 20, 2003 Report Share Posted November 20, 2003 if anyone s to Amritevani, the latest issue has some wonderful interviews. one in particular was with an AMMA devotee, a scientist, who describes how he came to know AMMA. he mentions how he'd once read somewhere that when a person is ready for a teacher (guru), one will appear before the person. it made me think back a bit to when AMMA first appeared to me. i had been reading and studying the teachings of SRI RAMAKRISHNA, SWAMI VIVEKANANDA (my man!), RAMANA MAHARSHI, NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ, and SRI AUROBINDO. i hadn't yet considered finding a living teacher for guidance and inspiration along my spiritual path. it was at this time i had learned of AMMA. i'd seen HER picture and there was something about HER that i was drawn to. HER face, HER smile. i wanted to know more. after reading about HER life, HER teachings, and HER devoted service, i was convinced that there was something very special about HER. i went to her website and saw that SHE was going to be in new york (where i live) in two weeks. this was much more than a coincidence. i went to see HER, met HER and experienced what i consider a turning point in my life. after reading the interview in Amritevani, i now believe that my teacher had come to me at a time when i was ready for one.
