Guest guest
Hi Devotees, Krishna prasad read my email incorrectly. The quote from the Michigan Q&A was Amma says that to see her children as she does is nearly impossible...thsi was in answer to the question from the women who works with children. She said to Amma that she would like to see the kids she works with as Amma does, but she has difficulty in doing this. The quote from the physicist is from Bob Dodge who met the physicist in India. This Indian physicist has spent quite a bit of time speaking with Amma intimately during darshans where Amma would have back and forth q&A sessions with him. Bob told me this as a direct quote from the physicist directly to him(Bob). He is very, very careful about the exact wordings when he quotes Amma directly. Also...Bob says that Amma rarely talks about herself so that these quotes are precious. Hope this clears it up!!! Om Namah Shivaya! Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, I think this is the source of this entire discussion. From Chapter 10, page 150 of Judith Cornell's, Amma: Healing the heart of the World. (all copyrights MA center) Jai Ma! Ravi ----Conversations with Dr.I.C.Dave, of the Atomic Research Center, Bombay---- Because of his interests in biology, Dr.Dave asked the Holy Mother to clarify some issues concerning evolution. "Amma", he said, "physics is concerned with the properties of matter, but biology is a science of a living system. As far as a biologist is concerned, the basic unit for manifestation of life is identified in terms of a chemical, called DNA, which is supposed to contain all information abou the growth and physiology of the body. "We can have a lot of DNA in a test tube, but we cannot create life out of it. We still need to use chemicals derived from living systems. "How can we bring life into a DNA molecule? Can we do it or not? What is that particular element of life that is different than matter? "I was stunned when she said, with a lovely smile, 'My dear son, you scientists have a lot of drawbacks. One of these drawbacks is that your knowledge is confined to the realm of only three dimensions.'" Dr. Dave was particularly excited to hear Amma use the word dimensions. When scientists think of dimensions, in regard to the physical world, it is in terms of the three dimensions of space (length, breadth and height) and time, which is often referred to as a fourth dimension (space/time). Needing clarification he asked, "Amma, if you say that our knowledge is confined to only three dimensions, there must be others. What are they?" She explained that the "three dimensions" she was referring to were those of the sleeping, waking and dream states - not those of space or time. Amma said, "In the sleep and dream state you dont know anything. When you are awake, your knowledge is confined to a very limited understanding of nature. "Physics is only a part of nature, not the whole. So whatever you understand with the help of physics is very limited." Dr. Dave asked Amma to tell him how many "dimensions" she knew there are. She said, "There are nine dimensions." Dr. Dave then asked her to name them. Amma said, "The 'fourth dimension' is known to everybody as the state of samadhi [uniting one's soul in deep meditation with the Supreme Consciousness called God, or Brahman]." Amma then became very serious."Even if I reveal the smallest fraction of my fourth dimension, you won't be able to face me at all," she told him. Dr. Dave said he became a bit frightened. He later said, "I think what Amma was trying to say is that her 'fourth dimension' would be glowing with immense energy. Her statement clearly showed me that Amma is not just what we see, and I learned from her that it is important for one to have knowledge of the 'fourth dimension' through the profound subjective experience of samadhi."
