Thank you, Nirmala for the 3 qualities you mentioned

(by the way, Kshama also translates as patience, which

gives it even more meaning.)

And thanks, Jyotsna, for your piece of the puzzle I'm

trying to put together... these are the main parts that I

remember. Still hoping for the other pieces!

Blessings,

Achintya

Qualities of a Disciple (Nov. 28, 2003)

November 28, 2003 San Ramon

The Vedas say seekers must have certain qualities

from the master:

Shravana--listening

Sruti--Sat Guru's words

Mananam(?)--contemplation

intellectual conviction

Ruti--logic

complete cooperation with master

Intellectual conviction gives us strong resolve.

Listen to Amma's words--allow them to seep deep

into our hearts. (Sruti--words of eternal truth.)

Strong resolve leads to practice. Practice leads

to experience.

Sorrow can not be eliminated by becoming worldly.

The secret of happiness is non-attachment.>>>
