Guest guest
Here's an Amma story from everyday life.... A library patron came in today and asked my colleague Sophia for books on Ammachi, so Sophia called me, and I arranged for her to get books and "River of Love." We talked for a while and she told me "her story." She went to the free program last year at the armory. At the time she was "going crazy" over the sale of their home. When she had darshan, Amma said in her ear, "Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow... tomorrow, tomorrow...tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow." Carolyn couldn't figure out what that meant, but the next day, all the messy details of their home sale miraculously cleared up:). At Her feet, Jyotsna SiteBuilder - Free web site building tool. Guest guest
Dear "chembalacnair" thank you for your "Amma Says" service to the list! and thank you Jyotsna for a story that gave birth to a good idea.. I'm going to use my personal funds now to purchase Amma's books, one or two a month, and donate them to my regional public library - that's the place where I first met Paramahansa Yogananda, ISKCON, Sri Ramakrisha and Devi Mata herself (in "Daughters of the Goddess" by Linda Johnsen).. as a matter of fact, I propose to the list that this be our next seva project!!! Let's scope out our local libraries and start moving books like the Hare Krishnas do! Victory to Mother! Ammachi, "E. Guest guest
While I think it's a great idea to donate Amma's books to libraries, I get a little nervous about the idea of promoting Amma and "moving books like the Hare Krishnas do." Just my opinion, but I think I would be sad to see Amma's children pouring their efforts into promoting Sri Mata, who needs no promotion. She has told us, "Children, did not Mother come when you called? Thus did She not obey you?" let us trust the guru to guide to Her light whom She will. Maybe we could start a seva to donate Amma's books to those who are interested but cannot afford them. I myself have been in this situation, and it is heartbreaking. Any ideas? > I'm going to use my personal funds now to purchase > Amma's books, one > or two a month, and donate them to my regional > public library - > that's the place where I first met Paramahansa > Yogananda, ISKCON, > Sri Ramakrisha and Devi Mata herself (in "Daughters > of the Goddess" > by Linda Johnsen).. as a matter of fact, I propose > to the list that > this be our next seva project!!! Guest guest
Ok, maybe I sounded a little over zealous in the ISKCON reference.. I was joking really, so I don't mean to walk the malls and airports and shove books at people.. becasue I think force causes resistance anyway. I just mean, donate them to your local library if they're not there already. I'm poor.. so without the library system, I don't get the luxury of reading the quantity of things I'd like. But if I do buy books.. they usually make their way to my local branch.. and that way I feel like my money went a long way toward the good of many.
