Guest guest
Namah Shivaya Avram, I appreciate the trouble you are having. One thing I have noticed is that people sometimes confuse the goal with the practice. While the goal is to "free ourselves of all tensions", in practice that is difficult. However, it is easier to focus on the practice and get closer to the goal every year. Focusing on the goal of already being there tends to frustrate us instead. I'm speaking very much about myself here, but maybe you or other can relate. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya Vedanta teaches that fear is due to the notion of Dual Existance. Can empathize because I grew up in New York City and visit relatives there often Avram, fear is natural as long as we think we are the Mind-Body. That illusion remains until we reach the goal. On a lighter note I was cruising the web today and ran across this quote by the Western Spiritual Teacher Ram Das. Guest guest
Just to add- most of us don't work for the NSA, FBI or CIA, and there is probably little we can do on the physical plane to diminish the threat of terrorism. Amma gave a really good speech after Sept. 11 that you might want to review, if it's in the archives somewhere. My feeling is that the most powerful weapon we have against terrorism is the relentless search for personal peace. Satsang, mantra, meditation, yoga, bhajan, seva, seva, seva. There is a LOT we can do to promote peace in our hearts, and we KNOW how our sankalpa (resolve) works. Remember the old saying, "Think globaly- act locally"? Well think REALLY local, to the heart of hearts. "Let's fill our fears with love." -Jerry Garcia "Emanciapte yourselves from mental slavery, none but our Selves can free our mind." -Bob Marley "Fill your heart with love, and then express it in everything you do." -Amma love, Brianna --- George4Mata <leokomor wrote: > Namah Shivaya > > Vedanta teaches that fear is due to the notion of > Dual Existance. > > Can empathize because I grew up in New York City and > visit relatives there often > Avram, fear is natural as long as we think we are > the Mind-Body. Guest guest
Hari OM! OM Amriteswariye Namaha! Dear All, Terrorism, Calamity, Natural Disasters, everything occurs by "HER" Wish only, for example, When any body need a painful surgery, like one part of the body should be removed, then only the body can survive, Will we advise the doctor not to do it. It is a big NO right. We may tell the doctor to give some pain killer to relieve the pain. so in the "Samashti Vasana" all the above is required, What we can do is only ask the supreme Doctor, the Supreme Brahman to give us some pain killer, or reduce the effect of the Calamities. By doing Japa, Meditation, and also intense prayers. "SHE" definitely answers all our prayers, In what way, which way, How it is answered, we don't know, but for sure "SHE" answers all our prayers. "GOD" is amazingly intelligent, because HE is the giver of intelligence to all other beings, So Whatever has to happen it will happen, there is no point brooding over it and make our mind miserable. All the times, we take it for Granted "HER" presence because of our stupid Ego. Think of the situation if little bit oxygen is taken away from atmosphere, and Carbon-dioxide is supplied instead! So "HE" is the all Kind, all merciful, Pray to HIM, bow to HIM, Surrender to "HIM" With Love & OM! OM Amriteswariye Namaha! OM Nama Shivaya! Guest guest
Dear Krishna Prasad....this is *such* an important message for me. Of course, there are ways to improve things in the world...but when it comes to the big uncertainties of life...you're completely right. In my own life, I'm facing some huge unknowables...and it's clear that all brooding and misery is going to get me is...brooding and misery! ;-) Now, my stupid ego just has to remember that it's not in control, and that all the brooding and misery in the world isn't going to change this fact! Trying to live in faith and acceptance and not be blind to Amma's grace...
