Guest guest
Om Namah Shivayah, In response to the impending dark clouds.... I have felt very moved to pray for peace lately. There are a number of world events that specifically have drawn my attention, namely the war in Iraq, the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, the AIDS crisis in South Africa, and the upcoming presidential election, which is, in my opinion, one of the most important descisions the American people will ever make concerning the future of not only our homeland, but of so many other nations who are either dependant on us, or currently being opressed or abused by us in some way. To that, I would like to implore all Americans on this list to PLEASE vote in November. If you are not registered you can do so at www.rockthevote.com. It may feel like one vote doesn't count for much in such a big nation, but every vote (hopefully!) does count. America is a very powerful force in the world, and it is my opinion that there is currently much corruption and abuse of that power, at the expense of many innocent lives. Reading foreign press coverage of the "War on Terrorism" I have observed that much of the world is shaking it's head at America, while our domestic press continues to frighten us with warnings of impending terrorist attacks. Instead of imploring the nation to act in the interest of peace and resolution, we are being asked to brace ourselves for the worst, by allowing our tax dollars to fund the creation and use of more and more weapons, while our education and health care systems continue to decline in quality and availability. Here in Los Angeles alone I have seen 19 hopsitals closed, and a friend of mine who is a school teacher says that her classroom now has 67 children, and they are all sharing textbooks. She also informed me that the school where she teaches (in an inner-city area) no longer has an art or music program, both of which have been shown to be extremely beneficial to children growing up below the poverty line. In contrast, our Beloved compassionate Mother has offered us so many tools to promote positive healing/change/growth in ourselves and in the world. I think that regardless of the vague aura surrounding the "prediction," the need for prayerful action is OBVIOUS if you look at the state of things. I've been doing rounds of Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu on my wrist mala whenever I get a minute, and have been attempting LS on sundays, although I am still going at a very slow pace. I have observed that the atmosphere of my home is REALLY lovely after LS. I will increase these practices and prayers, and I hope we all can, because whether Amma is urging us to or not, it will only improve our hearts and minds and benefit the world, it is a great seva. with love, Prajna ===== sarvabhauma_yoga/ _______________________________ Win 1 of 4,000 free domain names from Enter now. http://promotions./goldrush
