Guest guest
Namah Shivaya everyone, Since many in this group expressed an interest in the MA Center's satsangs, here are a few more details pulled from my brain, without notes, about last weekend's gathering. Br. Dayamrita made the point that Amma asks us to do just simple things, not so strenuous as say, meditating for days on top of Mount Shasta! For instance, during this year's tour Amma asked married couples to make coffee or tea for each other upon arriving home if they both worked. Or if one worked, then Amma suggested that the stay-at-home partner would make a hot drink for the working partner. My comment: I tried this effort by offering to make coffee for a co-worker & felt it really did do something nice within both of our hearts. This is more about the group of 10 French Canadians who quit smoking by Amma's blessing. Apparently, they were smoking outside the darshan hall when a devotee asked them why they didn't quit. They explained that they had tried everything & still could not quit smoking, so maybe in the next lifetime. The devotee suggested they ask Amma for help, to which they agreed, since they had already tried everything else. While Amma gave darshan to this group, they didn't realize what was happening as She began singing a bhajan in French to them. After that, whenever they would want to smoke, they would also want to sing the bhajan that Amma had sung to them. This kept happening, so that singing the bhajan had become more addictive than cigarettes! Hence, all 10 people quit smoking. Br. Dayamrita also talked about sacrificing our bodies, desires & finally our thoughts. (I've been "thinking" that while serving Amma, an offering could more easily be made of these. Then wouldn't it be wonderful if all of our lives were always an offering to Amma?) He also remarked on differences between worldy & spirtual people. Worldly people want things, while spiritual people want Amma. This weekend threre will be an Onam Celebration at the MA Center, when each Bay Area satsang group will create their own atha-pookalam floral decoration in the hall. If anyone wants directions on how to do this, I can forward an attachment about it. I haven't read it or done it before, but imagine it takes a lot of flowers. I'm typing this while working a quiet NOC shift, so I'm tired & hope it all makes sense. With love, Sweta
