Om Namah Shivaya and Om Amritesvaryai Namah!

Just to let all of you know... for those of you who know me.

My darling daughter (and certainly Amma's), Meera Leigh,

arrived on Fri, Oct 1st at 5:18pm, after a very challenging

and transformative, shall we say, birth experience (Thank

you Amma for being with me the whole time!!!).

She weighed 7 lbs, 12oz, 19 inches long, and I named her

after Meerabai... and also Meera means ocean in Sanskrit,

which I felt suited her. :) She is truly a little guru sent to

my husband and I from Amma. We feel very blessed. I

intend to bring her to San Ramon program in Nov for Amma's

blessings!!! We are totally in love and grateful for her

presence in our family.

Blessings to all of you,

Achintya

Congratulations.

I can sense your joy in the words you used to describe this event.

Just a tip for you for the next time's program (when your baby will

be 6 months plus when Amma comes to the US again).

I missed the 'chor unnu' (first solid food taken by baby which is

given by a religious official, so in that case who better than

Amma?) event for my daughter (Anagha) this time in Chicago, mainly

because I was not aware I could do it then. And I was dismayed (for

my kid) to see other parents being smart enough to avail of this

opportunity.

Please be aware of this, and see if you would want to give your

daughter the gift of her first solid food from the hands of the

Goddess!

More details on this event (Amma usually does this after Devi Bhava

darshan and before the marriages) will be available from old-time

San Ramon ashram residents or other satsangis.

Jai Ma!

Namah Shivaya, Achintya—

Congratulations on your little "Meera"!!! Our daughter Sarada was

born on Oct 8th last year and we just celebrated her first birthday

last week.. So I can understand your joy very much!

On Manoj's point about the "chor unnu" or "first feeding" for the

baby, I just wanted to let you know our story. Sarada was seven

weeks old when Amma was in San Ramon last November. We had taken her

to Amma to be blessed , which Amma certainly did.. We know about the

first feeding that Amma does during Devi Bhava, but we thought we may

not be able to have it for Sarada as she was just 7 weeks old in Nov

and she would be 9 months old in June 2004 (which may be a little

late.. although there are lots of people who have waited for 9 months

or more for the first feeding to be done by Amma). My husband asked

Ramakrishnanda Swamiji and he suggested that we get some rice blessed

by Amma which we could use for the first feeding. When we went for

darshan, my husband asked Amma about Sarada's first feeding. He had

the rice to be blessed in mind and asked Amma if he could get it next

day (which was Devi Bhava). And Amma replied "Yes, Amma will do it

tomorrow". After the darshan, we were a little confused as to whether

Amma had replied that She would bless the rice or She would actually

perform the first feeding the next day. So my husband went again to

the side and asked Amma. She asked him how old Sarada was then and

how old she would be in June when She came next. Then She asked when

Tamilians (we are from Tamil Nadu in India) would perform the first

feeding. My husband said it was usually in 6-7 months. She thought a

little and then said that She would perform the first feeding the

next day. So Sarada did get her first solid food from Amma when she

was 7 weeks old, much to the surprise of many people including us,

other devotees and even Swami Amritaswarupanandaji. What do we know?!

Who knows what is best for Sarada other than Amma? We just felt

incredibly blessed by Amma's Love and Grace. My humble suggestion to

you is that if you feel inclined to have Meera's first solid feeding

done by Amma, you should just ask Amma and follow what She says…

Amma certainly knows what is best for each one.

In Amma's Love,

Ragini

Meera also means ocean in German! das Meer.. ok,

close enough :)

My German-English dictionary is on the shelf within

easy reach of my computer - never know when I might

need it!
