Guest guest
Hello Michelle, Where do I find the photo album? I wanted to share a kind of unnatural phenomenon with you as well. My grandmother recently past away a few months ago. I went out to buy a new black sweater to wear to the funeral (I didn't own any black). I wore the sweater with out washing it. It smelled like the store. When I got home I put the sweater in the laundry for it to be washed. So when laundry day came I washed all the clothes and noticed when I was putting them away a strong smell of my grandmothers old house was coming from the sweater. She lived there when I was very small and I still remember the way it smelled. It was her smell. She still smelled this way when she lived at other places. Now of course my mind will say... well it has to be something with the fabric of the clothes or the detergent etc. Trying and trying to rationalize it. But the more I tried to rationalize the more it became a mystery. I washed the smell with different detergent etc. And ALL the other clothes did NOT smell this way and they were washed WITH the sweater, so why the heck not!! The only way that ANOTHER article of clothing would smell like it, is if it was directly hung up in the closet against it, but that smell would later in the same day even dissipate. I have washed and washed and sprayed perfume galore on it!! It STILL smells like her. My mind asks questions like why does THIS piece of clothing smell like her, the sweater I wore to her FUNERAL! Coincidence? I seriously started trying to rationalize that it WAS a coincidence, but later dropped that theory when I couldn't deny it any longer. Its very strange but very comforting at the same time. Most of my friends can not smell the "different" smell....HER smell. But one of them did. She said it had a distinct "not clean laundry" smell, but that it didn't smell bad. It just smelled like something.... different. I grinned. And then after a million washings and analyzing. I came to terms and accepted the fact that this sweater will ALWAYS smell like my grandmother and it still does. True story! Guest guest
That is a fascinating story, I have had something similar happen before and tried to rationalize it too. So many things are beyond our understanding, and it is so humbling. You can see the photos under "Photos" on the left hand side here on the message board. Click show all and you will see them toward the end.
