Guest guest
Prajna, that is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us! I'm going from 6/10-6/12 to San Ramon for the first time ever! Also, my birthday is that Devi Bhava. I've heard birthday darshans are really special, and I'm wondering....what do you do? Do you just say "Amma, it's my birthday!" when you go up, or how does it work? I'm so excited!! As Amma entered the hall my heart felt like it was going to explode! She looks just radiant, as usual. Some of the swamis have cut their hair short, and they look great too. There seems to be some sort of shift in most of them, I don't know if that's my perception or not, but especially Gita and Big Swami have a certain light about them... I wonder if the past months of tsunami work have taken the "family" to a much deeper place. > > Yesterday was my birthday, and I got my first birthday darshan!! Amma gave me an apple, a rose, and She fed me a chocolate kiss. A little bit of my hair got in my mouth when She fed me the kiss, and She pulled it out of my mouth and said "No hair." She also said "Happy birthday to you!" Best birthday present EVER! > > The crowd was the smallest I've ever seen, only about a thousand, so She was giving very long hugs. I felt so lucky. Now every time I sit for meditation I will be sitting in the padadhooli (sacred dust from the Master's feet) of my beloved Satguru! Heaven.... > > Swamini has written a new book, which has lots of really old photos of Mother that I've never seen. I never make a big deal about birthdays, but I couldn't resist the special attention from Mother!! > > My grandmother is coming on the retreat with us today. I'm sure it will be amazing. The whole Puget Sound area is so magical and serene. My family's property is on Vashon Island, we live right in the middle of the forest, it's so still and breathtaking, and totally conducive to meditation. My grandparents were my first gurus, they raised me with metaphysics and meditation, and while they are thrilled at the direction my life has taken, my dad and step-mom are being incredibly judgemental. Mind you, my dad lived in India with his guru and raised me Hindu, but he has since put God in the basement in a box marked "India Stuff." He saw Ma in India back in 1985 in someone's house! I think part of him would secretly like to come for a hug, but my step-mom seems to think it is a "cultish waste of time and money" (even though hugs are free). Now he eats meat and carries a hand gun, what more can I say? > > Ah well, if I've learned anything from Advaita Vedanta, it's that everything is happening exactly as it's supposed to, there's no point in getting worked up about it. As big Swami said last summer, "We rarely get what we desire, but we always get what we deserve." It brings up all kinds of emotional reactions, but it's so true. So I'm staying open and loving, and am secretly sneaking prasad apple into everyone's morning smoothies.... > > Love and blessings to all. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, When it was my birthday, I told Amma's attendent. I think she said to tell Amma. It was a wonderful experience! Before my darshan, a woman next to me was sobbing because she didn't realize that she couldn't have darshan 2 days in a row. She went to the rest room, & I decided if she couldn't pull herself together, I would give up my birthday darshan token to her. When she returned from the restroom, an attendent told her, "I understand you're going for darshan." On one hand, I think my birthday darshan was so good, because I was willng to give it up. But, I regret not giving it up immediately, & feel sure that if I had, Amma would've blessed me even more, in some other way at another time. Where do you live? I will be in San Ramon, & plan to train for special needs seva. Sweta ammasiswari <ammasiswari wrote: Prajna, that is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us!
