Guest guest
Once I was at a Chandi Yajna, chanting and throwing masala into the fire. We got to a certain point and Swami Satyananda said "Now!" In the midst of the very high flames, the Goddess appeared. It was Kali and she was dressed in green. She was such an amazing sight. She was at least 12 ft tall. When one of you mentioned seeing Amma at Devi Bhava dressed in shining green, I immediately thought of this vision of Kali that I had. When I had darshan of Amma in LA and I looked up into Her face, She was so radiant and full of Delight, Her eyes sparkling. She was the most beautiful Divine vision that I have ever had. For those of you who have yet to see Amma, my prayers are with you. May you go to her empty of all desire and ready to accept whatever She chooses to give you. Guest guest
thank you for sharing this, pahari maa! i was not able to go see amma. have never seen her before and am a new devotee. but i attend a very small satsang here and the hosts offered to take my photo to ask amma for blessings. i am told they gave it to her and she looked at it for a moment then kissed it and put sandal paste on it. then she handed them an apple to give to me. they said that she rarely give fruit. i feel so touched and blessed by this as i long to see her. Guest guest
Does Amma really turn into these things ? If so I was wondering why she doesn't show everyone. Also just another question. I wonder why she can't speak all languages ? Is there a reason for this ? Not trying to be negative but really I wish I knew why.... Guest guest
When I heard Swamiji translating for Amma in LA after she spoke at length in Malayalam, it was clear that she was following his English translation very closely. She would interrupt him and correct him or tease him for his choice of words. She obviously understands English. My intuition is that she understands all languages but has chosen to stick to her native language and let others learn from the gift of translating for her. This is also true for the high Tibetan rimpoches. Why does she only appear to some devotees? Partly, I believe it is a matter of faith. But I also feel that She only appears when the Divine vision is very necessary.... to protect a devotee or to further the spiritual growth of the devotee. Guest guest
Dear Tony, Would you rather learn 1000's of languages or just one the language of the heart. I believe Amma only knows Malayalam but since she's one with the existence, the existence provides her with the necessary information at a particular moment based upon the needs of the person. So it's no surprise that she will spontaneously understand any language and reply back in the same language. Remember language is only of the physical realm. My humble thoughts based on second hand knowledge Ravi Ammachi, Tony <ammastony> wrote: > Does Amma really turn into these things ? If so I was wondering why she doesn't show everyone. Guest guest
Dear All, I first took Amma's darshan when she was on her first tour of North America. It was in 1986 or 1987 in Madison, WI. When my daughter received her hug, Amma raised her arms up in the air and waved them around saying (in English) "oceans, oceans, whales, dolphins, fish". Since my daughter's father is a marine biologist and she had been raised with a great affinity for the ocean and all it's beings, we were amazed that Amma "knew" that about her. Later the Swamis told me that Amma did not speak a word of English and they were astounded at Her darshan with my daughter when she spoke in English. By the way, the reason we went to take Amma's darshan was that I saw a little article in the paper announcing her visit. It mentioned her name, Mata Amritanandamayi. My daughter's name is Ananda Mae (pronounced anandamayi). When I was pregnant with her I got a clear message that that was the name I was to give her.
