Guest guest
It occurred to me that I really should have put myself on the prayer list for this week....my Ph.D. comprehensive exams are tomorrow and Tuesday and I've been so worried. I've studied as much as I can, given the circumstances, but I feel so underprepared and stressed! It helps knowing that Amma will be here soon, but in the meanwhile...if any of you have room for me on your prayer list over the next couple of days, I'd be grateful! Blessings, Iswari

Guest guest
Dear Iswari, Before an appointment for making a statement under oath, about a legal situation for which I wanted prayers, I silently chanted Amma's 108 names. It felt as if Amma's presence was right with me, but then it seemed that almost everything that could go wrong, did! None-the-less, everything turned out just fine. if you have time, maybe you could arrive early for the exams to chant Amma's names. Then you could just ask Her to be responsible for the results of your actions. Plus, on pg. 108 of the Archana booklet, is a note about a mantra chanted when starting a class. Maybe it would help to also chant it. It couldn't hurt! I relate well to test anxiety. I use positive affirmations to counter act feelings I want to change. When anxious, I may mentally repeat, "I am calm." In addition to taking dee breaths, it can also work well to take a deep breath, hold it to the count of 10, then exhale with 2 audible sighs. Best wishes for tomorrow & you'll be in my prayers With love, Sweta .....my Ph.D. comprehensive exams are tomorrow and Tuesday and I've been so worried. Guest guest
Dear all, thank you so much for your prayers and good wishes! Today's part of the comps went relatively well (I believe I passed at least three out of the four questions, and, if worst comes to worst, we are allowed to re-take up to two missed questions in the fall). I've just had a very needed nap and am again up for the night to study for the last two questions for tomorrow. I chanted the "Dhyayamo" verse before the comps started this morning and Amma somehow gave me the strength and focus to get through the day. Hopefully, She will again tomorrow (after which point, I intend to sleep a long, long time, especially in preparaton for Her arrival in NYC at the end of this week, and all the seva to do there! (Speaking of which, if any of you will be in NYC on Devi Bhava night and are interested in doing late-night seva on the darshan lines, please do drop me an email!) All evening, I've had the refrain from "Ma Amriteswari" singing in my mind: Ma amriteswari mangala dayani ma Jai jagadho dharini jaya jaga janani ma (Mother the immortal goddess who showers auspiciousness upon us Victory to You who uplifts the entire universe!) I didn't actually know what it meant, but I just looked it up and...it seems fitting! =) Jai Ma!
