For example, let us face it, we have a traveling Guru. There are often six month gaps in seeing Amma. Holy Company is recommended by all religions. Can one not benefit by another Spiritual Teacher to fill those gaps?...Please Groupsters don't sue me for blasphemy. Just kidding. Dear GeorgeSon ~ I'm calling my lawyer today (just kidding). I think you answered this question yourself in a previous post when you said Amma was your chosen guru. And, at least in my mind, there is no other anybody that could be a surrogate for Amma. Amma is uniquely Herself. I do believe that, because there are so many references in Hindu scripture to keeping the company of saints and enlightened masters, that having chosen, we are clear, and that we can then visit others and imbibe whatever wisdom fits for us. If we were told what we could and couldn't read or whom we could or couldn't visit, I would begin to feel that this was too much like the Catholic church where certain books, movies are prohibited and where they once told me that if I went to another church, I'd burn in hell. This is not Amma's way, of that I'm certain. We may be burning off our vasanas, but that is another matter entirely. : ) Jai Jai Ma ~ Linda
Guest guest
In the Ramayana, Vasishtha was Rama's guru, but when Rama went to the forest, he visited many gurus and saints along the way and was even initiated by some of them. on 8/16/05 10:04 AM, nierika at nierika wrote: > > GeorgeSon wrote: > > Is there something to the notion that another "guru" can be a > surrogate for Amma? > > For example, let us face it, we have a traveling Guru. Guest guest
When one is totally solid in the relationship with one's Guru, then there is no conflict. - Rick Archer Ammachi Wednesday, August 17, 2005 8:26 AM Re: Re: To GeorgeSon on surrogate gurus In the Ramayana, Vasishtha was Rama's guru, but when Rama went to the forest, he visited many gurus and saints along the way and was even initiated by some of them. on 8/16/05 10:04 AM, nierika at nierika wrote: > > GeorgeSon wrote: > > Is there something to the notion that another "guru" can be a > surrogate for Amma? > > For example, let us face it, we have a traveling Guru.
