dear yogaman,

I agree with your request included below. I recall a story( maybe

someone can confirm this ). When Amma was leaving Amritapuri( perhaps

for the first world tour ), She asked all those residing at the

ashram to pray for Her.

Now some pseudo-rationalists will ask that why do we have to pray for

Amma, after all if she is Devi then no one need pray for her. To this

I will say that Amma is fully submerged in non-dual awareness, to her

a killer and the big swami would both be identical :-). She might even

gladly invite the killer to do his job.

A story from the life of Acharya Shankaracharya - there was a

kapalika who wanted to kill Acharya for a ritual that would give him

immense power. The kapalika came and requested Acharya to be the

sacrificial victim. The acharya gladly consented and told him that he

would arrive at the time to the location specified and told the

kapalika that he must keep this a secret as acharyas' sisyas would

prevent this. So the time came and the kapalika was raising his sword

to behead the acharya; at that very time Padmapada a prime sisya of

the acharya who was also a partial incarnation of Narasimha had a

hunch and he prayed to Narasimha to reveal the truth. When he learnt

of the plan, Padmapada became so angry and at this time Narasimha

entered him and he instantly reached the place of the sacrifice.

Narasimha-padmapada killed the evil kapalika and was still raging with

anger. The acharya who was in samadhi woke up and sang one of his

famous Narasimha stotra to pacify Shree Narasimha [the exact version

of the story varies depending on the source].

MORAL OF THE STORY - Mahatmas dont give a damn if their life is going

to end or not; so it is upto us sisyas to do prevent that.
