Guest guest
Does anyone else think this is strange? I thought you were supposed to ask and get permission from Amma to live there. Strange that they'd have an actual ad on the website: M. A. Center Residency The M.A. Center is currently open to applications for new residents. Imagine living in an idyllic country setting - only 15-mins from the nearest public transportation or a one-hour drive to downtown SF. Picture yourself passing browsing deer on your way to work; being surprised by the white peacocks who turn up where you least expect them. Experience deep peace daily in the serene atmosphere of the native oak woodland, overlooking lotus-filled ponds. Most valuable of all is the opportunity to immerse yourself fully in Amma's powerful energy; morning archana and evening bhajans take place in the puja room daily. Residents' spiritual practices are supported by periodic talks, classes, videos, and occasional retreats and guidance from Br Dayamrita Chaitanya. Share communal dinner and ashram seva with the other residents. Each resident is assigned an area of responsibility to share in the maintenance of the Center. The application process includes application review, interviews and a two-week trial period living on-site. Please note that currently there are no facilities for couples or families. Contact: residencymacenter or call 510.828.830 for more details.
Guest guest
I think that it is strange. Sounds like it was written by a PR firm. It just doesn't sound like an ashram. Guest guest
I suppose the style of the writing sounds a little slick...but I don't think you need to ask Amma's permission to reside at the ashram(s), just to become a renunciate. Guest guest
This ad is in regards to the MA Center in CA, not the ashram. And I agree, it does sound a bit slick with its wording. We are devotees of Amma, and we really shouldn't need to be "convinced" to want to stay in the Center... ¸... ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸..´ ..´¨¨)) ((¸¸..´ ...´ -:¦:- ..::Brightest Blessings::.. -:¦:- ((¸¸..´.¸...` ..::Bela::.. Guest guest
The MA Center is an ashram. The wording to me, just sounded like an accurate description of the environment. The sales pitch aspect simply sounded like some of the requests for seva that have been broadcast, with a touch of humor, over the sound system while Amma is at the MA Center. Incidentally, someone told me of her friend, who Amma said could live at the MA Center. She still needed to go through the interview process. Now that one, I don't quite understand. Seems as if Amma's word would be final on the subject. Sweta --- Bela Gaytán <bela.fela wrote: > This ad is in regards to the MA Center in CA, not > the ashram. Guest guest
Sounds Ok to me. When talking to "long time" devotees, it had always been that you were supposed to get permission, but then that source (hearsay) never fails to be disproven in the long run. Maybe MAC needs the income of permanent residents? It still seems strange to me. My impression years ago, was that there was very limited residential quarters available in general there. tom
