Just knowing that Amma is here in California is bringing great joy to

my heart. Even though I decided that I could not afford the money and

time for a trip to Northern California, I feel her presence...

Dear Ardis ~ what you wrote is so beautiful, and you spoke what I too feel

in my heart. You will read the story about a new chapter in my Amma Doll

"catastrophe" in the next Digest.

I feel Amma is reaching out to me. I loved how you described putting fresh

flowers on your altar and lighting the candles. I don't quite understand the

part about lighting a candle under a glass plate of aromatic oils. Is it a

regular plate, or some kind of plate made for this purpose.

I have Amrita Ranjini incense, which comes from Amritapuri, and I love that.

I have tried the Amma's Rose incense, but it gives me an allergy attack. But

perhaps I will try it again because I love that scent that is so associated

with Amma. Blessings ~ Linda

P.S. for those who missed the post, I highly recommend this website of

sharadamba's art. The name of the site is "heartwork." After looking at these

beautiful images, I just had to write to sharadamba and tell her how much I love

her work (which has work depicting Oms, Ganesha, Mother's Feet, Yantras, Kali,

Kundalini, and more, all in her own unique style.

When sharadamba wrote me back, which totally delighted me, she recounted how

my letter had synchronistically arrived just as she and her husband have

returned to the US from a 10 year stay in India, part of the time at Amritapuri.

This body of work came about after she was in a two-year religious intensive.

She is also an Amma devotee, and her art is gorgeous. Here is the link:

Yes, the glass plate for the aromatic oil is specially made for this

purpose. For my birthday last year, a friend gave me a base of three

meditating figures. The candle sits in a glass holder between them.

The concave glass plate rests on their heads. The lit candle warms the

aromatic oil and fills the room with Amma's fragrance.
