Guest guest
I had asked one of the Swamis-the Western one whose name I do not recall and my apologies here. I asked about meditation. I have been intiated with a mantra from Amma, then Swamiji does a guided meditation at the programs, then there is IAM-which I have also taken. I asked him what should I do, which one or all of them? I practice IAM regularly-usually 2x a day. He said IAM was enough to do and to just do that. That was a relief as I wondered how to do all of this. Someone else had a question on meditation. Sometimes just reading spiritual text upon arising is a good way to start if you have no "official" mantra or training. Any of Amma's spiritual writings are a tremendous resource and can often transport you into feeling that you are with Her. OFtentimes, I read a book and can relate so well to the author's experiences about life. It might be a good starting point. I also think that keeping the same time every day is important for spiritual practice. Mornings are best as they set your day. It does take time, commitment and making choices. But evenings are ok, too. It's just important to DO IT. Spiritual practice produces a commulative effect and each drop of your devotion/practice is never wasted. Your practice also uplifts humanity. I am a single parent and raised my kids not to interrupt unless there was a fire in the house. My son has now learned the IAM program. Until this time, they, of course, thought I was "out there." Well, maybe so! But it takes time to develop a habit of meditation and practice. Once you develop a habit, it will be hard to stop as your mind will crave it, your body...YOU...the YOU inside will hunger for it. Maybe I have written this before so I hope I am not boring whoever reads this! zzzzzzzzzzzz! lol.... Another idea: You could just chant Amma's name or read the 1,000 names or 108 Names. Even if you do not know the pronunciation, reading it with the English translation will also provide a meditative state. I hope something in this is helpful to you. in Amma, adriane
