Guest guest
This is a really big issue for many of us and I'm glad you brought it up... For me, I live far from my family. When they visit me they are a little shocked at the number of Amma pictures around my home. For my parents I "tone it down" and only have a few up, those that don't move. When they ask I tell them it is my 'indian teacher' I don't tell them anything more about it. I have a great relationship with them and they are unaware of a huge part of my life. but they wouldn't understand and why open myself up to cricitism and all the other nasty stuff family does when you are different. I do love them, and I am more loving and accepting toward them BECAUSE of my Amma and Her teaching me to be loving. I am sorry about your experiences...my only suggestion is to hide it a little, dont get into arguments. have a deep reverence for their religious beliefs and maybe they will learn to mirror you...also doesn't christianity have saints? Amma is a saint. as for me, i've always been different and had to hide it somewhat... i've come to a place of acceptance. love. dana. -- "Love and beauty are within you.
