If you want to spend several hours chanting and sending out unconditional love and/or Amma's love to someone, how about to the families of the four people he was convicted of killing. Not to mention the many people killed or maimed by members of the Crips gang he founded. IMHO lethal injection was too good for Tookie.. they should have brought back the gas chamber. Guest guest
Am I mistaken... but I thought Amma preached love and forgiveness? If not for Amma's teachings of love and compassion, Circle of Love Inside would not be the seva that it is today. If not for her unconditional love... many people would still be wallowing and drowning in their guily, pity, and the condemnation received from others. I've done many wrongs in my life. Granted, none were as serious as murder, but nontheless, if my wrongs were never forgiven, I'd have a hard time having any peace in my life. Guest guest
oh boy! here we go again! are you serious, keval? again, no one is suggesting he not pay for crimes committed, and no one suggests that the families of the victims associated with said crimes are overlooked but that prayer and compassion go to all of amma's children. all of them. it's hard to believe a devotee of amma would support the death penalty. but then, maybe i'm too idealistic. > Your brother?? To what fate would Christ have sentenced Tookie? I think he would have uttered the 21st century equivalent of "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." Even if this guy was guilty, which is debatable, he was doing a lot of good from prison. What a waste to kill him! Just shows what a barbaric, hypocritical society we are. If Amma had been asked to decide this guy's fate do you think she would have said to kill him? FAT CHANCE!!

Guest guest
>From what I understand, the man had had a total change of heart, and was trying his best to get many people out of the gang he created. He had become a social activist. If anything, he was following Mother's teachings. He started the Tookie Protocol for Peace, a local street peace initative. http://www.tookie.com/protocol/table.of.contents.html He wrote the book Blue Rage, Black Redemption (Information from the Website) is the first publication under a new publishing imprint, Damamli Publishing Company. In Swahili, Damamli means "a beautiful vision." All books and other media from this company are dedicated and defined by the notion that redemption is possible, that adults and kids can cast off negative conditioning and create real personal and spiritual growth - and that children must be attended to as a first priority. Always. I say his death caused more harm than anything, and primarily satisfied the emotions of a few families which while should be sympathized with for their deep grief the bigger picture must be seen. If he was allowed to live, he would have continued working and contributing to the good. There was no harm in allowing him to live, the man was already in prison most of his life. Not all of Amma's devotees are soft-on-crime bleeding-heart liberals. Sorry I was out of line with that "they should have brought back the gas chamber" comment, but I do think the death penalty is justified in certain cases. If Hitler hadn't committed suicide, and could have stood trial for war crimes, what would have been an appropriate punishment? Death sentences shouldn't be handed out indiscriminately, as in Texas, but execution should be an option to deal with the worst of the worst, such as Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer (actually Dahmer was killed by his fellow inmates before the state could do the job). With four murders and the founding of a vicious street gang on his resumé, Tookie was certainly in that league. Like Gov. Schwarzenegger, I have my doubts about Tookie's supposed transformation during the more than 20 years he spent on death row..did he sincerely renounce gang violence, or was it just a cynical ploy to gain a commutation or a new trial? BTW, the death penalty is still on the books in India..and no putting-a-dog-to-sleep lethal injection over there.. they still string 'em up on the gallows. Guest guest
br. keval, it's not about being a "soft-on-crime bleeding-heart liberal" (is that supposed to be an insult?) to be against the death penalty is not to be soft on crime. how on earth do you get there in your assumptions? it's about a teaching about love and forgiveness. when you follow a teacher like amma then love and forgiveness is the rule of the day. it doesn't matter if death penalty still happens in india, or anywhere else for that matter. the point is you can't just take what you want from amma and leave the rest. or, can you? i guess i do not understand what i perceive to be a primitive bloodlust that so many humans seem to have. an eye for an eye--whoa! definitely not amma's teaching as i understand it. Besides, shouldn't we all have bleeding hearts of compassion? I would rather have a bleeding heart than one of stone. > > Like Gov. Guest guest
AMMAS son experienced this first hand.when he was in that prison yard with only him and AMMA and he realized that no matter what ,AMMA WOULD STILL LOVE him, his life began.THIS IS IN THIS HEART FOREVER,NEVER TO BE TAKEN AWAY BY ANYONE OR ANYTHING.THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO TO EARN AMMAS LOVE.THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO TO TAKE IT AWAY.HER LOVE FOR ALL OF US IS UNCONDITONAL.AMMAs son is so greatful to have been behind those walls ,though he would not wish it on anyone.when AMMAs son gets in the DARSHAN LINE HE BRINGS ALL OF THOSE BROTHERS WITH HIM TO RECIEVE AMMAS HUG.THAT IS THE MAIN REASON HE WANTS THE HUG.IT IS SO THOSE OTHER BROTHERS CAN BE HUGGED THROUGH THIS HEART. YOU WILL BE HAPPY TO KNOW THAT AMMAs son has spoken to another one of our brothers who he was locked up with in newyork city who became a devotee of MOTHER and we are beggining to make arrangements for him to come to CALIFORNAIA in june to GET HIS HUG FROM HIS MOTHER AMMA. THIS SAME PERSON ACTUALLY WANTED TO BEAT ME UP BECAUSE HE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY AMMAs son had these strange ways and this INDIAN WOMAN WITH A DOT ON HER HEAD ON his locker.he was actually the ONE OF THE HARDIST men in the dorm.AMMA JUST KEPT TELLING me to love him.eventually love won over and he began asking this child questions and he began meditating with AMMAS son. we talk about it every time we speak. we are both still IN AWE.HE ALWAYS SAYS"AT FIRST I THOUGHT THAT YOU WERE CRAZY AND THEN THEY THOUGHT THAT WE WERE CRAZY".before this child went home, there were ex-pimps,ex-thugs and drug dealers all meditating with this child at 4:30 in the morning.IN THE ENTIRE TIME AMMAs son was there,no one ever disrespected my alter.they mocked AMMAs on when he chanted OM but he realized that they were learning the PRIMORDIAL SOUND THROUGH THERE MOCKERY.AMMAS SON SAW N.AMERICAS SO-CALLED HARDIST CRIMINALS ALL TURN INTO BABYS AT THE SITE OF AMMAs photo.never did he have to defend HER PICTURE.he prayed with the CHRISTIANS AND CALLED THE ADAN WITH THE MUSLIMS.THEY ALL, AT LEAST RESPECTED AMMAS PHOTO. there were a a couple of brothers there that had taken others lives and one of them cried in remorse on this shoulder.THEY ARE ALL AMMAs DARLING CHILDREN .YOU WOULD BE SUPRISED AT SOME OF THE EXPERIENCES OF DIVINE LOVE THAT TAKE PLACE ON THE OTHER SIDE.IT IS THERE THAT AMMAs son found AMMA WITHIN him.it was there that AMMAS son saw HER LOVE WORK THROUGH societys so-called hardist criminals.AMMA IS LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE OLOVE LOVE AMMA AMMA MAMA MAMMMMMMAAAAAMMAAMMMMMAAAAAMMMAAAAMMMMAAAALOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE .. >Bela Gaytán <bela.fela >Ammachi ><Ammachi> >RE: RIP "Tookie" >Tue, 13 Dec 2005 23:04:20 -0500 > >Am I mistaken... but I thought Amma preached love and forgiveness? Guest guest
Dear brother Temba, Wow !!!! P.S. I request you to not use capital letters in your posts except to emphasize a certain point. It is very hard to read and in email etiquette capital letters signify a strong opinion equivalent to shouting. Guest guest
DEAREST BELOVED BROTHER.YOU CAN THINK THAT THE DEATH PENALTY MAY BE GOOD IN SOME CASES ALL YOU WANT,HOWEVER AMMA SAYS,"WE DO NOT CREATE LIFE SO WE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE LIFE.YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION.AMMAs son respects your freedom.the question your brother ask is this.do you believe in your heart that these CHILDREN OF AMMA that are making these decisions are enlightned beings?do you really believe that they have the discrimintive attributes to really make the right choices?THERE IS A DIVINE PRINCIPLE CALLED ACCEPTANCE.WE MUST ACCEPT WHAT HAS OCCURED IN THE PAST.MISTAKES HAVE BEEN MADE BY ALL OF US.WE LEARN FROM IT AND WE MOVE ON.SOME HAVE TO DIE SO THAT OTHERS CAN LIVE.HOPEFULLY TOOKIES BODY DIED SO THAT MANY OTHERS CAN LIVE. AMMAS son really appreciattes his brother KEVALS honesty.that is how we grow.thankyou so much for helping AMMAs son in this way. as far as others KARMA GOES.AMMA says for us to not focus on others karma, only on how we can help them. >Prasadini <ganesh1008 >Ammachi >Ammachi >Re: RE: RIP "Tookie" >Wed, 14 Dec 2005 21:47:39 -0800 > >Namah Shivaya, >I have been staying out otf this thread, but I just have one question. >Didn't some pretty awful things happen to the people who made attempts >on Mother's life - even though She Herself forgave them? Guest guest
we can still derive something positive out of something negative. As matter of fact in the world of duality the two cannot exist without thee other.when someone reacts in a negative way, there behavior is teaching us what not to do,WHICH IS VERY POSITIVE.its all about PERCEPTION.whatever works for you is loved by your brother,he just wanted to share with his sister another way to see it.and he doesnt want his sister to be sad. >Bela Gaytán <bela.fela >Ammachi ><Ammachi> > RE: RIP "Tookie" >Wed, 14 Dec 2005 20:36:18 -0500 > >**sighs** I won't comment on any more of these types of threads, where >nothing positive will come of it.
