Guest guest
Nov. 22, 2005 We can only go forward in time. There is no reverse gear. That is nature's law. The first Ford cars had no reverse. God, too, has forgotten to put in a reverse gear. But it happens in Amma's presence. Time is precious. The Satguru has appeared in our lives. There is no time to waste. There are three places where decisions originate. Head, heart, and "b." (?) The head always has to think. Example, "Am I in love?" Most people function from the head. There is too much thinking. The head has created bombs, etc. The head thinks about money, power, position. That's the lowest point-- from the mind. People fill their heads with useless knowledge. The head is the most superficial factor. Knowledge is of the dimension of "having." Knowing is of the dimension of "being." To really know, one needs a pure and innocent (mirror-like) mind. Peace of mind doesn't exist. Pure mind--we call it heart. We have to fall into the heart and then go beyond. The path of the Guru/sishya will help us regain our lost innocence and purity. A true disciple has childlike innocence. Amma has said, "Serve with your hands and pray with your heart." Amma's aim is to help us regain our inner purity. Her job is to help us go beyond the mind. The mind only reacts. In the heart we can reflect. Amma said, "The whole universe is a tiny bubble within me." Knowledge brings seriousness. Knowing brings sincerity, playfulness. Serious people are so "heavy." Amma is so light--no thinking--like a flower. Thoughts don't belong to us. They come and go--like a bird flying into and coming out of our house. We make the mistake of thinking they are ours. All thoughts, ideas are borrowed. Thought exists outside as a thing. Things are thoughts. The entire universe is a thought, an illusion. It doesn't really exist. A thing is a thought and a thought is a thing. Our thoughts go on creating a world around us. We can't throw our hearts like a thing. Amma says, "Speech is very powerful." We can give our thoughts as a gift or as an infection. Things are the physical part of thoughts and thoughts are the physical thought of things. Amma is established in the thought of no mind. There is infinite energy. Help comes in a subltle way. It's not always obvious. Amma uses a special word--sankalpa. This is usually translated as prayer, but is not prayer. There is no exact translation. Sankalpa comes from the source. Amma says, "I am not a battery that will run down." Stop being negative. Negativity is a dangerous force. Become absolutely positive. Even Hanuman was "caught" by Ravanna. Ravanna was a musician, scholar, Siva devotee, etc., but was negative. That's the difference between white and black magic--positive and negative feelings. But we are under the protection of a Satguru, Amma, and don't have to worry. When we become a disciple, we lay our will at the guru's feet. There is a saying in India, "The guru will save you from Lord Shiva's wrath, but even Lord Shiva can't save you from the guru's anger." The guru won't curse you, but it shows the all-powerful nature of the guru. Develop positive thoughts and help society. A thought is a double-edged sword. Anger is a two-edged sword with no handle. It cuts you and someone else. Meditate before anything else. Meditate until we come to the point where we feel we are no more. People have said to Swamiji, "I have always felt my art is my meditation." Change that to "Meditation is my art." Whatever work we do is a by-product. If it springs forth from the deepest part of space, it will be immensely beautiful. Allow Amma to carry us. Let us soar to the heights of spiritual peace and bliss.
