To kalika on Ammas' prediction for Dec. 26,2005

Dear Kalika ~ I too have thought of the December 26 "prediction," though I

don't look at it that way, and I don't think Amma does either, which is why She

uses terms like "dark clouds."

Amma is not a fortune teller. She gives us Her knowledge in the moment, but

through Her encouragement of sadhana, and through other forces over which we

have little control, like planetary conjunctions, some things She says may or

may not come true. I like to think that having so many people praying for

weeks and weeks, with the December 26 "dark clouds" on the prayer list, and

probably many others praying as well, we were fortunate and the situation was

prevented.

 

Many ancient traditions including the Aztec and the Hopi have long standing

predictions from centuries ago, stating that this time on earth may be

catastrophic. However, the same documents also state that these catastrophic

situations may be averted by the way we as humans behave, how we treat the

Earth,

if we pray, etc. The Hopi have been dancing for centuries to keep the cosmos

in order. I am grateful for this and for all the others who dedicate their

lives to prayers and spiritual practices in an ongoing manner, for I believe

they are helping keep things in order. Yet it is not enough. More of us, not

just the "us" on the digest, but "us," the human race, need to do more. As

Aikya

said, even simply working to see God in Everything is a powerful act that

could help the balance.

 

In an earlier post, I mentioned the Navajo Blessingway. The Blessingway is

brought forth (it is one of many Navajo "chantways") when it is believed one

life or life in general is out of balance. It's purpose is to restore balance.

Even if all we do is make an effort to have balance in our own lives, we are

helping.

 

I couldn't tell from your email if the fact that Amma's "predictions" didn't

come true was disturbing to you or not. But I see them as opportunities,

such as with the December 26 "dark clouds," to do something, take an action,

prayer, bring more balance into my life ...

and pray that this will stave off calamities. If a "prediction" we were

hoping would happen, doesn't happen, there is also a reason, one that we may

never know. Some facet of our lives, in unison with planetary and cosmic

forces,

has come about that changed that "prediction."
