Sanatan Dharma and Hinduism are for most purposes, one

and the same. "Hinduism" is an Anglo coinage, dating

from around the 18th century, when the Brits needed an

"--ism" of some kind to describe the religion of their

colonial underlings..long before that, Indians called

their spiritual practices Sanatan (eternal) Dharma.

Aum Amriteshwaryai Namaha Aum Namah Shivaya

Hinduism is called Sanatana Dharma where it means in sanskrit as

"Mother of all religions ". Hinduism has a history of more than 5000

years so it is called as mother of all religions

Actually I was told that when some conquering general

and his army (was it Alexander the Great?) came as

far as the Indu River, they called the people on the

other side "Indus," which of course became Hindus.

I can always be wrong, of course.
