Too long ago to remember the details. Dear Prasadini ~ Yes! This is covered to a great extent in Mircea Eliade's "Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy." It really is a primer in worldwide shamansim as well as the earmarks that distinguish shamanism from other forms of spirituality. For example, a Native American Medican Man or Woman is not a shaman.
