Namah Shivaya,

About 25 years ago, I was sincerely trying to live as Christ taught. While

driving at night, I would sometimes pray, sing & cry to God, & also at times

experimented with tongues. I still remember repeating the sound "hrim" so

often, that I sometimes wondered if it was an actual word in another language.

Isn't that beautiful?

question online to share with

others.

Karunamayi has released a CD recently( last year ? )on this mantra:

~ om hrim namah sivaya ~

this mantra is chanted continously on the CD

perhaps, it might work well on sivaratri day

concerning your q about "hrim"

"Chanting the mantra 'hrim' let the mind flow like a river towards

the Ocean of Love and meet and become one with it."

first line in "OMKARA DIVYA PORULE-IV" page 155 Bhajanamritam

i have heard that 'hrim' helps to open the heart and some refer to it

as the 'heart mantra'; perhaps others know more about this and would

like to share ?

for me it's a combination of two of my favorite mantras ~

'hrim' and 'om namah sivaya'

Hreem :) the highest sound of the Divine in the form of Ma since it is also the absolute sound of Siva - chanting this clears Agna Chakra we experience 8 rays of light permeating each and every cell its also the sound that builds an aura of self- esteem... The kind that comes from experiencing the all powerful Divine Self within - rather than in the ego sense. It is also the sound of Hanuman in his herioc form, strong and like a warrior rather than a worrier :) Hanuman being the deity of medicine and the Ayurveda... So in my own humble experinece good for healers and healing in the highest karmic and dahrmic sense - Aum Amriteshwaryai Namah
