Guest guest
Just a thought: Perhaps their lives would have been "ruined" or "destroyed" no matter what their path. I am not sure what "ruined" and "destroyed" are. Many people face many difficulties in life. Look at the Tsunami survivors. I am not sure anything is ever "ruined" if we still are alive. We must always try to live in the present-not worrying and obsessing over the past or worrying about the future. All of this is MAYA. It is easy to forget the temporary nature of this world when in the grips of despair, hopelessness or grief. I know of the great difficulties many have faced-even worst than my own-yet they continue with courage and faith. Life itself is a gift and all things are for our greater good in some way. Holding onto the feet of our Guru will bring us all the courage we need to face all things. Perhaps their situations may have actually been worst if they did not have Amma at the time. She may have absorbed some of their karma for them. To blame Amma because someone's life is not turning out how one hoped I think might be a bit short sighted. The goal in life is not a perfect life. It is to face all difficulties with courage. Thru faith in God, Amma, Christ, whoever you may follow-will help you thru all the storms that life brings. i hope this is somehow helpful for you in some small way. adriane > Ammachi, "jmcs_06" <jmcs_06@> wrote: > > > > I also have more than 10 + years with Amma...She has said and > > promised to me (and to other Amma devotees I've known) some things > > that didn't come true...i've seen Amma devotees' lives ruimed and > > destroyed after following Her. Guest guest
One more small idea I thought of also: is it the Guru's job to "fix" our lives and make them perfect? I don't think so. It is to provide what we need to take us to the goal. adriane Ammachi, "Adriane" <a1driane wrote: > > Just a thought: > Perhaps their lives would have been "ruined" or "destroyed" no > matter what their path. Guest guest
In Paramatmananda Swami's books, he frequently talks about devotees who approach him, befuddled by the fact that their lives seemed to fall apart and everything seemed to go wrong after meeting Amma. At one point, he actually quotes Amma as explicitly saying that she creates these situations for us on purpose, for our own good and spiritual growth. When I read that last summer, I laughed. I always knew that she was behind my trials and tribulations of the past few years and I thought to myself, "Aha! She's finally copped to it!" I don't know that she does this with everyone, necessarily, but I've definitely seen it among those who have asked her for it, as I did (I had NO idea at the time of the extent of what I was getting myself into....though at this point, I wouldn't trade any of it for the world).
